Icing conditions - screenshots???

Postby marauder23 » Sun Jan 23, 2005 5:51 pm

I have not been able to re-create icing conditions that show up on the wings, windshield, or any other part of the airframe in FS2004. Is this even possible? Does anyone have any screenshots of icing on an airplane? I have has the last three FS versions, flown in some really heavy icing conditions and never saw a trace of ice. I have has the pitot static system get clogged up but that's about it. I appreciate any feedback on this.

Thanks.

I know there's a russian aircraft that was modelled recently (and reviewed in PC Pilot) and that has icing on the 2d panel (which looks very effective) but, other than that, I don't think icing is displayed on the exterior models of aircraft, or, hasn't yet been done (probably requires lots of programming).

I think that's something that the designer has to do when creating the airplane. I have one airplane that requires you to turn on a heater or the windows will frost over and several payware will show ice on windows and wings but I don't think I've seen icing on any of the defaults unless it's added on. There's a panel for the default Baron that will adjust the flight dynamics for icing and eventually you'll crash. It doesn't show visible icing. Visible icing is something the designer definately has to build into the airplane.
