Learjet Panel

Postby TSC. » Sat Jan 22, 2005 9:16 am

Hi all,

I used to fly the Learjet in FS02 & whenever I was landing I used to press 'W' in order to turn off most of the panel so that I could see the runway better.

In FS02 this just leaves me with a nice row of essential dials along the bottom of the screen & allows you to see better.

However, when I do this in FS04, Microsoft (in their wisdom) have decided to put all of those dials in one big box in the middle of the screen - completley blocking the view of the runway - which results in my landings being even worse than previously anticipated!!! ::)

Does anybody else have a problem with this? & if so, do you just 'put up' with it, or have you installed a new panel that corrects the problem?

Any suggestions (apart from: 'stop pressing W' ;)) would be very much appreciated.

Cheers........................

Hi TSC....Funny that...I don't use that particular view but I get the same as you and just the Learjet...maybe some "Smartypants" ;) will have the answer...I don't I'm afraid''''exept maybe to Shift+enter and look over it....commoner :)

Hi Commoner,

I hadn't tried hitting 'shift' & 'enter' to look over the panel, so I will give that a go - I usually try to look around the the panel, but it usually results in me falling off my chair & spilling my beer. :'(

Thanks.

lol....ditto....you could of course change the size and position by changeing the panel CFG file...maybe to look like this would be better.Image

open the Lear folder and then the panel folder and open the panel.cfg look for [window 06]....position will be 7 if it is like mine so make that 10...a few rows down make the line...gauge01+lear-45!PFD, 0, 0, 125,140  (adding the 125 and 140 changes the size). Click the red X and yes,save the changes..You can alter the numbers to suit yourself and maybe save a copy of the panel cfg as a precaution if you are unsure just what to do...commoner ;D

Thanks commoner,

That is a brilliant solution & is exactly what i wanted, but I didn't know how to adjust the files :-[, I will follow your instructions after backing up the original file.

Thankyou very much. :)

Happy landings..........................

Blast it. Commoner beat me to it again. >:( :P :D

One thing, are you sure you changed the position= value to 10? I would have thought it should be 0. The standard window positions are from 0 - 8 like this.

0 - 1 - 2

3 - 4 - 5

6 - 7 - 8

Not sure if it will work on the minipanel but adding the extra windowsize_ratio= line to that entry should make resizing it a lot easier. Check out my Add GPS tute. http://www.simviation.com/lair/AddGPS.htm
I'll try it on the minipanel later to confirm it.

The position=0 value puts the minipanel at top left for me as I thought. Not sure about the extra windowsize_ratio= line I suggested. FS9 crashed when I tried it. If Commoner's method works I suggest you use it.

Hi Hagar...yes 0 is the correct position, but not being TOO informed (must read your Tute ;D) I arrived at 10 by trial and the odd error but why it is read as 0 I have no idea except that it worked ok..........here's the relevant detail....commoner  ;)Image

...BTW Hagar ..any idea why despite placing the cursor in the message box, 90% of the time, Paste puts the "paste" into the subject line..very fustrating... >:(

I take it you mean in the forum. I occasionally get this & other odd problems but it doesn't always happen. Very frustratiing. ??? ::) :)

It might depend on your browser. I use Firefox for normal browsing these days but have even more problems with that on this forum. >:( Posting here is the only thing I use IE for.

I tried my suggestion again & it worked fine this time. I suspect the previous problem was related to something else.

This is my new Lear45 Panel.cfg entry with the changes in bold type.

[Window06]
position=0
size_mm=188,256
windowsize_ratio=0.7
child_3d=1
background_color=0,0,0
ident=MINIPANEL

gauge01=Lear_45!PFD,
