Installed aircraft not in select aircraft list.

Postby svenpurple7 » Sat Jan 22, 2005 1:31 am

I have installed an aircraft and it doesn't show up in the "select aircraft" window.  Let's assume for just a minute that I installed it correctly (which I think I did, but watch me be wrong ) :P , what could be causing the aircraft not to appear in the list?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Ben.

Go to the main FS9 folder and then the aircraft folder
and open the new aircraft folder.

It should have, model, panel. sound, texture, aircraft
and and airfile.

If it opens to another folder you need to install that
folder in the aircraft folder.

Also check the aircraft.cfg for the name of the manufacturer. If one is not listed, it will be in the
unspecified in the aircraft listings.

Thanks LoneEagle, but all the appropriate files and folders are there and in the correct location.  The settings in the aircraft.cfg such as texture, manufacturer, type and variation are set to what I want.  I even checked spelling and it just doesn't show up.

I think I once heard that there was a way to make AI aircraft not show up on the list.  I think this is what's going on here but I don't know how to do that much less undo it.  I wonder if I am imagining that.

You are right commoner.  I should have specified which aircraft it is.

It is the AIA B727-100 with the FedEx textures by Brian Mitchell.  I dl'd from Avsim.  I installed in the same way the AIA B727-200 with its appropriate repaints and it shows up fine in the list.

the c:\fs9\aircraft folder contains the following:
a texture.FedEx folder with the texture files in it
a model folder with the .mdl and model.cfg file
a sound folder with the sound.cfg file
an empty panel folder
an aircraft.cfg file and
an .air file

I made sure the texture setting in the aircraft.cfg file is set to FedEx.  I am out of ideas. ???

Ben. I assume this is a typo & you left out the actual "aircraft container" folder from the path. Supposing this folder is named AIA B727-100 the path would be like this.
c:\fs9\aircraft\AIA B727-100

If you're certain it's properly installed make sure you're looking in the right place on the FS9 menu for it. This will be the same as the ui_manufacturer= entry in Aircraft.cfg.

Hagar,
first off it is a typo.  I meant to include the aircraft subfolder in my description.  It is rather late here and I have no business being up at this hour. ;D

second, I opened the .air file with AirEd and Aircraft Type was set to 2.  I set it to 0 and there she was in all her glory. ;D

I just wanted to make sure that my mind wasn't playing tricks on me.  I like to make sure that all my AI aircraft show up in the list just for peace of mind.  Now I can hide all my AI planes once I verify that they are installed correctly.

You rock Hagar! ;D And thanks to the others who posted with advice.
