Now it's the throttle!

Postby beaky » Fri Jan 14, 2005 10:06 pm

Rudder problems have disappeared, but now all aircraft can't develop more than about 80% of available power. Also, button assignments are not saving well anymore. Any thoughts? ??? :(

I had a similar problem with the throttle, check the sensitivity on your throttle axis. As far as the button assignments, not a clue there. Could it be a driver problem? I doubt it, but you might try that.

Yeah, I'm on the verge of reinstalling the Saitek software. Every time I close and open FS9, I see different button configs  and a different control surface acting up (now ailerons flutter on their own). It's not the sensitivities.... I think somehow the Saitek app. got "confused" when I recently re-installed CFS3 and redid all the joystick settings for that sim; it's only been unstable with FS9  since then.  I'm not looking forward to this... I initially had a hell of a time setting up this joystick for FS9. Seems to be a weak point of the X45 ("not logo-tested for Windows, etc., etc...."). :(

Sounds like you may have more than one fs9.cfg.

I don't know what OS (if any) the X45 was intended for; that's the warning XP gave me when I first installed the drivers. It was difficult getting it working properly, but it's been stable for months! Another cfg.??!!! How the hell could THAT happen?

It happens all the time. More often when you start
changing hardware.

Do a search for fs9.cfg and enable hiden files.

Given some thought it makes sense (although I'm no programmer). Thanks a lot- I'll give it a try. But if I have multiple cfgs, don't I want to delete as opposed to enable? If you can enlighten me a little, it'd be very much appreciated.

You need to enable hidden files in the seach window
or the fs9.cfg won't be found.

Save and paste one to a temp folder, just to make you
feel better.

Delete all of them and restart the sim. It will make a
new one with all default settings.

Reset everything to your likings.

You may want to delete all the saved flights also,
just to get a fresh start on things. They are in My Docs.
just delete the flights, leave the folder there.

Here's a head-scratcher: a search of the entire hard drive, including hidden files (duh- I should've realized that's what you were referring to), yielded no results.  ???

The location is:

c/documents and settings/user/application data/microsoft/fs9

I made a shortcut to it so as to check from time to
time because I have had a problem with having too
many.

If you do find two, just delete them both. A new one is automatically created when you open fs9.exe. Sorry to hear you're experiencing classic fs "hey, let's play a joke on the loser that bought this game and create several problems for no apparent reason."

I can't find nothin'. There is no Application Data subfolder in my personal user subfolder in Documents & Settings, and the Administrator subfolder has one, but under Microsoft it only contains a subfolder labelled Internet Explorer. What the heck?!! All I did was re-install CFS3 and re-calibrate my joystick... :(  I'm about THIS close to seeing how well FS9 will fly when launched out a 4th-story window...

Go to the "Tools" dropdown menu at the top of the screen then go to Folder options/view then tick the Show hidden files and folders option. You should be able to see your application data folder once you've done that.

Thanks, jethro... yes, I've just checked that, and discovered only one FS9.cfg file. However there is also a text version of the same thing, with a different (later) creation date, and also a record of having been modified recently. When opened, the original .cfg file and the text version seem identical (didn't check every line, though...). Any idea what that's all about?
