F4-D Phantom Cockpit problem

i've downloaded several of the F4 Phantoms, D,H,F models. When you get into the jet the view looks like that of the pilot in the back seat.  You can't see a thing in front of you because a huge instrument panel is in front of you.

A HUD is visible, but worthless. Do i have something set up incorrectly, or is this how they are built.  Al versions are the same way. Got them from "Military" section, page 10 maybe.

Did you unzip and install the gauges which came with it?

yupp,unzipped guages and put them in MSFS guage folder

Hi Lurch....I downloaded one of the Phantoms you mentioned and this is the panel I got...does yours look like this?  You will get a better view by doing "shift and enter"  to raise the seat.....commoner

Yupp, that's exactly what it looks like.  "Raise the seat huh?  That's pretty cool.  Will check it out.
Is that an MSFS command or just an extra?

Hey Comm,
looks like the "seat" controls are a long time MSFS control.

Did notice that no matter what model Phantom i used, the panel is all the same.  Also noticed the panel and guages fonts are somewhat garbled, distorted, not very sharp.

Would that be a graphics card problem?  Is there a better, sharper panel and guages for this bird?

Yes Lurch..the Seat Controls are just part of FS.....you should check out all the keyboard assignments..otherwise you are missing lots of goodies...personally I like the rough look on panels, especially warplanes....looks more natural to me Screen resolution too makes a difference ...I use 1024x728x32 myself....you can change it in the settings..maybe under the Hardware tab. You can also mess around with the sharpness etc. of the Panel bitmaps in Photoshop or whatever you use, if you are into that sort of thing..see you ..commoner

Anybody ever download this Phantom?
When installed the gauges don't show up. So i looked in the panel.cfg file and it calls for several gauges that are not included in the download and don't exist in the MS FS gauge file.  Any ideas?
ps, thought i'd use this thread since it's about F-4's.

Lurch. It seems you're still having problems installing gauges. As it's only a small file I'll download the Phantom & check it out for you.

OK. I checked it out in FS9 & CfgEdit. You're quite correct & the gauges used on the included panel are missing. It seems the wrong gauge pack was included with this aircraft. I can only suggest you use a panel that does work from another Phantom. Alternatively, look in the Panels section for a suitable 3rd party Phantom panel.

hmmm, so according to the panel config file , i could
-borrow the equivalent qauges,

-insert the names in place of the missing ones,
leaving the location and size entries(don't know what   else to call them) alone

- put the new gauge files into msfs gauge folder and that should do it.

OR

look for a whole new panel like you said.

At least I know i didn't set something up incorrectly

I was gonna try to email Rey Lopez, the builder, to let him know, but couldn't find any info
