Fixing incorrect ils's?

Postby freightdog35 » Thu Jan 13, 2005 9:38 pm

Some ILS localizers like 28L at KCMH are not alligned with the runway like it should be.  There was the same problem in FS 2002.  With the program EasyNav these errors could be fixed but it doesn't work with FS 2004.  Does anyone know how to fix these errors of do you know if EasyNav will be updated for FS 2004?

There are several ILS's that arent aligned properly in FS2004, and as far as I know there is no fix for it, but maybe someone else knows of one ... :(

Yea, I still remember making a zero visibility landing at PDX onto a misplaced ILS-boy, what a surprise I got.

"Uh, captain we didn't land on the runway"

"Does it look like I care? We're on the ground. Thrust reversers."

::)

It'd be awesome if there was a program to fix this stuff.

You might wabt to try repairing those runways or NAVAIDs with AFCAD 2.21. It's actually pretty easy.

For this I just pulled up the deafult KCMH airport in AFCAD and double clicked (to open up Runawy Porperties) on 28L and looked at "Heading (from base end)" and noted the runway heading which is 94.210. Then, went up to View and "Show Navaids." Then you can see the ILS localizer beam in plan view. Double clicked that and entered the correct heading or 94.210 at "Heading (true)." It was off by quite a bit. Closed that and saved it whcih saves to the default "...\addon scenery\scenery" folder.

You can see how it is off in this beofre image:

And after a simple edit it's on target:

Good luck,

Gus

Thanks Gus.   Worked like a charm.  Actually this was easier than using EasyNav.
