Getting started!

Ok I'm pretty new to flight simming. I played around with FS 98 sometime ago. But recently got a better computer so I want to get back into it.
Is there any sites that can help getting started, Or should I just jump into the game and take the lessons, etc.. I bought Flight sim 2004 or Fs9 hehe maybe I'm newer than I thought I'm not even sure of the name.

Welcome to the forums ....... and welcome to the world of FS9 or FS2004 ..... one and the same. I would suggest just diving in and giving it a go.
Your site for help is here,  no question is too stupid or inane. If you read through the threads you may find your questions have already been answered, but don't let that stop you asking again for clarification, there's thousands of hours experience on these forums.
Watch out for marmalade and white coated individuals who drool constantly.. they call themselves moderators but its just a disguise for the fast that they have been proven insane

Welcome C-I...as Eno says .."no question is too stupid.." my first post was to ask "what is FS9...."....nuff said then

  I just got into the C72 and crashed a lot....the lessons are good though if you want to learn to fly the sim "Properly" Happy simming....commoner

Welcome to the forum, and as the others have stated, nothing is too stupid to ask, and everyone here is really helpful if you are experiencing problems  ;D
Also I dont know how hard it would be to incorporate into the boards, but I think a search feature would be nice. Where new people to the forum could search for a certain topic, just an idea  ;D

Hello ice- I'd recommend a little of all three: Dive in and get a feel for what the sim offers; take some lessons (IMHO the FS9 lessons are pretty good- not that different from my own experience taking real-life dual in light singles); and feel free to tap the knowledge available on this site. It's true... the phrase 'there are no stupid questions' is taken pretty seriously here.

Welcome to SimV and ACOF (yet another name for FS 2004). In answer to your question: All of the above. The lessons are pretty good. I don't think much of the checkrides but the lessons give you a good grounding.

Start small and work your way up. If you just can't stand not flying the bigger stuff then there are ways you can get the AP to do some things for you but don't rely on that 100%. It really helps to start from the beginning and work through.
