ATI, did you find the fact that the panel is completely, 100% in Russian an issue at all? It's an awesome aircraft and I fly it all the time, but I can never get everything to work (forget the AP on that thing). But it's vc and panel and even exterior model is amazing, I'd agree.

The best freeware so far is : MD-11 by Alain Capt. First, this is true simulation from gates to gates, from flight plan to shutdown. His panel is awesome, in quality with multiple functions ( Pushback, Apu, light, 3 on board computers, with active displays, fuel and weight management, WX radar and TCAS-  Crew communication - Music- Auto landing ---makes you wish you have a co-pilot,--- 36 pages of documentaion- Tutorial). [Instructions to be followed to the letter]
Grade: 98 --- because Alain is always improving.
I personally wish the display readout to be brighter ( which is true for 99% of all panels everywhere.

I wanna be a pilot,no computer geek. That's why the russian panel of the An-24 suits me just fine.
And to answer your question,beefhole: I've read english and german manuals for that panel and those have really helped me. But once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. In fact, I've got the AP enganged for about 70% of my flight time (except takeoff and landing).

What i like
- Russian plane and panel
- Totally different control concept, making the aircraft feel like the real thing
- More radio stuff than you'll ever need (and INS in the latest version)

What i don't like
- Joystick disconnect could do with an indicator that you have left it connected... it behaves badly if it isn't set right
- VC (but that's coming... or use the merge version)

LoL! Don't give up..practice. And printing the manual helps a lot,too...

Lerning german and reading the german manual I've used could help a lot,too.
