...If you were asked what to add on FS2006...

Postby legoalex2000 » Thu Dec 23, 2004 10:08 pm

If Microsoft came to you and asked what you would like to see on FS 2006 (if there is one). what would you say?

Here's what i could think of
  >declaring Emergencies
  >add heliports (like the heliport 3 blocks down from my house)
  >change O'Hare (18/36 is now Txi GG)

CRJ!!! Definatly a CRJ or ERJ, an RJ period would be awesome to put on. I would like to seem them "emulate" real world airports, with the volume of traffic each one has...i.e.mke,ord,dtw. More voices...ones that don't sound so RO-BOT-IC. I guess seeing an Avro would be cool. Airbus...I don't know if it would insult any Boeing friends, but an A320 or A318 or even an A340 would be awesome. Give me some vintage aircraft too! DC-6, Convair, DC-7. L-10, MD-11...classics. Would be cool...maybe a balloon?
Life is like an airplane...you can only go one way. Straight. You can't throw it in reverse, you can't parallel park. One way only.

No matter what they do/don't add some people will be happy, some won't. As far as ADD-ONS, I can make my own helipads, and change airports with AFCAD, so no biggie there if I need to add a helipad or change/add an airport. And I can download about any aircraft I want, so what they put in for default aircraft really doesnt matter. So I am gonna wait until FS2006 is released and decide if I want to get it, but so far I am happy with 2004  ;D

I guess I'd like to see more detail in some of the planes, such as an FMC in the big jets. Although the best way to do it would be to have a Standard and a Lite version of both planes so that novices could jump straight into a 747 and get it up in the air.

But for the geeks among us, an FMC would make us fly the default planes a lot more, especially if they had some great physics...!

I don't really care for emergencies or combining MSFS with CFS.....I actually like FS the way it is. I don't know how they're going to improve for FS10, but it'll be interesting to see.

For a bush pilot, seasonally appropiate frozen lakes and rivers (landable on wheels/skis)..........or maybe I've missed something in 2004.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Update the engine to allow 3D gaming and interactivity besides airplanes.

Sort of like Operation Flashpoint. Also could mean actual running around into out of airplanes, cleaning or fueling planes and deicing with a hose hehe. And actual interior airports. Going into airport lobbies and control towers etc.  Basically GTA without the dumb gangster elements.

Well, I think I already mentioned part of the list of items I would like to see.. But, for those who missed it, I'm summarizing it again.

I would like to see layered repaint kits available of all aircraft - this time both sides should be available to reduce the "mirror" effect (I.E. TV News helicopter repaints showing up backwards on one side of the current FS2004 Bell JetRanger).

I would like to see more of the Bell Helicopter family in Flight Simulator 2006's lineup. The Bell 206 L4 LongRanger, the Bell 407, 412, or the Bell 205, 222 or 427 - maybe all of them - all rendered by Microsoft. In addition, I would like to see different variations of the Bell 206, 206L, and the 407 available - including Police, TV News (with the high gain antenna dish and TV camera apparatus on the underside - and TV News gear on the inside), military(OH-58 Kiowa), and civilian. In addition, each helicopter should have the correct start-up and shut-down checklists and accurate start-up and shut-down sound effects.  I'd also like to see a Glass Cockpit version of the Bell 206B JetRanger.

A "Build your own aircraft" option, to specify exactly what equipment comes with the aircraft you buy. (Sort of like the "Build your car" options in most platform racing games).

Better virtual cockpit detail - with VC as default start-up view.

Correct placement of roads, shorelines, etc, and more realistic scenery objects (e.g. the Tacoma Narrows Bridge).

Photorealistic ground textures in major cities and in major mountain ranges or natural features(Such as Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier or the Grand Canyon).

38.6M terrain mesh as a global standard, and 19.2M in more concentrated areas such as the Cascade and Rocky Mountain Ranges of the United States, the Hawaiian Islands, the Alps in Europe and the Himalayan Range in Asia.  I'd also like to fly over Machu Picchu, the Matterhorn, or the ruins of Pompeii.

Extreme weather effects that are frame-rate friendly! LOL

Backward Compatibility with Flight Simulator 2004(mainly to negate the need to start from scratch in terms of add-on scenery, aircraft, etc).

I would like to see the Cessna 182 Skylane RG return to Flight Simulator - with Virtual Cockpit.  In addition, I would like to see Glass Cockpit versions of all aircraft including the Cessna.

Better SDK's. No more messing with DOS. User interface like RWY12 - with access to every default scenery object or effect file, to make creating simple to moderate scenery more easier.

And this one may be a little unusual for a wish-list item, but I've always wanted to fly around Mt. St. Helens' peak, and experience what it was prior to 1980 (I was born just six months before its devastating May 18, 1980 eruption). Perhaps time-specific DEM terrain mesh as a part of the scenery?  Who knows!

well, i must admit, people are going to build those 5 engine 7 wing airplanes or even better, 5 engines and 1 wing. now there's an addon i wouldn't pass up

I was thinking more along the lines of aircraft-specific options that are realistically available...

I would like to see better weather systems.  Thermals are not generated at present in FS2004 whic sux for gliding.  There are thermals in many places in real life and it would be nice if they were simulated in the sim.

Gixer: there are thermal add-ons in the Simviation Download library. Haven't tried 'em yet, but that might help for now...

Microsoft's SDK also has a way to create your own thermals.
