Help Pleeease

I wonder if anyone can help me. I've been using FS2004 perfectly for about 9 months. Last week I had to replace my drive, installed the new drive, loaded XP Pro and installed (Full Install) FS2004, exactly as it was before the drive crashed. Now, whenever I enable the joystick, the "brake" indicator in the lower left corner comes on and, no matter what I do, I cannot release the brakes. I have tried changing / removing keyboard and joystick assignments, tried three different sticks but nothing helps. As soon as I disable the joystick [ctrl k] I can fly perfectly with the keyboard, but as soon as I re-enable the joystick, the Brake indicator comes on again. Is there anyone that could give me some advice please ?  Thanks.

Are the brakes actually applied? Meaning can you still fly normally (T/O and Land) ?

If so there is a way to disable the "brake light" I think you change something in the config file.
Right now I'm uncertain let me look around and see.

Also what joystick do you have?

Now I know how stupid i really am.....unplugged my I-Controller (used for Real Flight) and...everything works again ! FS was seeing the I-Controller as the joystick instead of the Sidewinder.

Don't feel too bad.  I have RealFlight and was having issues with my trim.  I found that it had to do with the RealFlight controller being plugged in.  I felt pretty stupid after that.

Stupid. which I doubt you really are, but welcome to the forum. If you have everything working again, and want to disable the "BRAKES" thing from coming on when you apply the brakes, go into your FS9.cfg file and do this:

First make a backup copy of your FS9.cfg file

Scroll down until you reach a section called [Sim]

Add a third line " show_brake_message=0 " so the section now reads :

(SIM)
SYSCLOCK=1
show_brake_message=0

Now save the file.

Very important to make a backup of the original first!!!!!

hi,
my fs9 dir. has no fs9.cfg, but found tow of them hiden in wxp directories.
I start and use fs9 with "safe mode".
The trick you mentioned worked when applyed on both fs9.gfs.
