B727 problems with panel and airfile

Postby congo » Sat Dec 11, 2004 3:00 pm

Anyone know why the latest and greatest airfile by Charles Fox (4 years of work) won't let me use the Rudder on it's intended 727 model? Is there a rudder lock?

Also a Richard Probst's panel question... I've tried everything to get rid of the most annoying L O U D cockpit whining. It sounds the same as the sound "rp727_2_400hz.wav" which is in the panel folder, but no amount of removing it or renaming it will stop the infernal racket. If I remove the panel .gau file called "Rp727_2.gau" it solves it, but alas then I have no gauges

From the FAQ:

KNOWN PROBLEMS AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I HEAR A CONSTANT TICKING SOUND WHEN POWER IS ON

This is the vibrator for the altimeter, and it's completely normal. The vibrator helps prevent the altimeter needles from sticking. This is also the number one complaint that I've received on the last version. It was the first panel I know of to simulate this, and I think people hearing it for the first time were baffled as to what all the racket was.

Yes, they are noisy. This particular sound however is a quieter vibrator that was recorded from a 737-300 and should ease your nerves a little.

To disable the sound, open up the file named rp727_2_altimeter.wav with Sound Recorder, reduce the volume to nothing, then save the wav. Buy hey, you guys wanted realism didn't you?

Egads, Boeing make a jet with a quiet cockpit and then they stick one of those gadgets in there! Good thing I wasn't a 727 pilot, I would have gone off the rails!
