View Options for undocked Spot View

Postby xtp » Sun Dec 05, 2004 4:22 pm

Spot view adjustments work just fine if spot view is in the main window.

However, I like to have the forward main view on the primary monitor and a smaller spot plane view on the secondary, which I obtain by undocking a second view set to spot plane.

My problem is that the spot view settings seem not to affect this undocked window, which is permanently stuck on the view from the side, whereas I prefer a view from behind.

How can I adjust the spot view in an undocked spot window whilst the main display shows something else?

I dont use a second monitor but this should work on any undocked window.

You must first switch the system focus to that window. Do this by left clicking your mouse cursor anywhere within that window.

You should then be able to make any changes to that window, i.e. pan, zoom, change view, etc.

After making the changes, refocus to the main window by left clicking within it.

Cheers,
Dave

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

If I understand your question correctly, you need to do the following...

First, hit Alt+Enter and run FS in a window

Hit the '[' key to open a new view window

Right click on the window and choose the option 'Undock Window'.

Drag the new window to your second monitor.

Hit 'Alt+Enter' to return to Full screen mode.

Your second window should be against a black background now.

Click on the second window to activate it and drag the edges to fit the screen.

When you want to change a view in either screen, click on that screen to activate that window, then hit 'S' to change the view.

Now you may live happily ever after...

I hope this helps you out.

The issue is not creating and undocking the floating spot view, but changing the viewpoint within that undocked and floating view.

With the spot view open and undocked there appears to be no way to adjust the view in that undocked window.

The workaround I have found is to open a spot plane view full screen in the normal window, adjust that, undock and drag away.

All you should have to do is click on either window and change your views in the normal manner.  I do it every day...
