Cant go into Space :(

Postby forfun » Tue Dec 07, 2004 8:29 pm

Hey

I was trying to get into space yesterday.

I failed

Why?
Now if something goes without saying, then why do people say it??

MS has a ceiling of 99,999 feet or so, mainly because it's not a space sim. ;)
Great edit, Bob.

I used to have a shuttle that I'd slew up that high and then shut the engines on, replicating a shuttle landing.  Fun times.
Great edit, Bob.

Well  If your looking for a space simulator then try this out.      http://www.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/~martins/orbit/orbit.html

It's free and it has a great community with tons of addons. The graphics within the earths atmophere are kinda crapy but the textures outside are pretty great.    Here is a good addon site allthough its not updated as frequently  or as big as simV. :)    http://www.orbitmods.com/

Also there is a pretty handy forum that will answer a lot of questions. http://orbit.m6.net/v2/boardtalk.asp  ;)

I would suggest x-plane !!
not that beautiful as FS9 but a good combination of
a Flightsim and a space simulator !!
The big advantage. You have an inbuild editor for
aircraft and scenery.  And the aerodynamics are calculated
directly from the geometry wich means no config/air file
creation !!
My first choice when I want to do really crazy things like
building a rocket car that makes mach 6 at Edwards.
(puhh that was hard work)
Or building a spacestation where you can dock with your shuttle... or shuttle reentries.. or building a plane that makes mach15.. and so on. And the simulator handles such speeds quite nice.. unlike FS.
give it a try

cheers
