FS9 causes computer shut down

Postby chief1995 » Mon Dec 06, 2004 10:19 am

Hi All,

Lately when I close down FS9 it causes my computer to shut down. I reported to Microsoft and the message I keep getting is that a driver is causing the problem, but doesn't indentify the driver.
What driver should I start looking at?
I havent installed anything new, drivers, software, etc.

Win XP
2.80 gigahertz Pent 4
512 Ram

Thanks,

Chief

Probably your display drivers ..........  You don't say what your graphics card is.

The Usual suspects,

Display Drivers

Motherboard - IDE / INF drivers

Direct X

Soundcard.

Download the latest drivers for the above - www.guru3d.com is worth a look - your problems should be sorted.

Hope this helps.

I have been having similar problems. i have updated all drivers to the lastest versions. It started happening when i installed a new 128 mb radeon 8500 video Card. does this seem to be a common problem with radeon video cards. it never happened when i had the Nvidia card.

I have done all the driver updates, still getting the radom freeze and /or computer  shutdown >:( . Fs_ Pilot did yours get  fixed  with the new drivers?
With FS2002 I never had all these problems, last night I got ready to do some on-line flying and I could never connect with FS9, I went to FS2002 and bingo I was connected and flying no problems at all !
If I had known I was going to have all these problems with FS9 I never would have upgraded. One needs to be a computer wiz to keep it flying, I have to constanlty tweek it.
I do appreciate every ones help!
Regards,

Chief

Sorry Chief, i am still having problems. They don't seem to be as bad as they were since installing the very latest drivers (www.ati.com) but it is still happening. There has to be some way of fixing the problem but i don't know the answer. Maybe someone out there can help us both out.
