Big white squares on scenery

Postby beefhole » Sat Nov 20, 2004 6:30 pm

On a lot of the new scenery I've downloaded, there are a lot of big white squares popping up around the airport. Judging by the size of the squares and the placement, I figure these must be missing autogen files.  Any way I can fix this?

Yeah, that's the "Trees" files missing. You should be able to find them here at SimV. Just make sure you isntall them exactly according to the instructions that comes with the package. That prevents a lot of trouble in the long run.

Textures missing on buildings and other objects is often due to the Nova textures series not being installed. If installing the trees and Nova texture sets doesn't fix the problem then it's likely a problem with the scenery.

I've had some sceneries that show missing textures and found I had to put the textures into the FS 2004 "Textures" folder. You might want to try that too but make sure you can undo the changes if you have to.

Hmm, by "trees" file did you mean just a generic tree file that is used in many of these or a particular one that should be specified in the readme (I'm not at my comp right now, so I can't check)?

Gerrish Grey's trees are available here  http://www.simviation.com/members/fs2002utilities_ess1.htm but if you don't want to go there, download the newest bases from Margarita Air Club

I didn't think Gerrish Grey's Trees V3 worked in FS9?

If it is occuring with add-on scenery check the readme file sometimes it will tell you to add certain textures to make the scenery show correctly.

Yea, it says Garrish Grey's stuff, but he's got like three v3 things out and I don't know which one it is.  And it also may not work in 2004 (my KEYW scenery may be 2002, I'm not sure.)

you have to install all the extra textures required or it won't display correctly. They are available at http://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_scenery1.htm or http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/filemust.htm search through to find all the required textures.

I installed the Gerrish Grey trees in FS9 the textures from FS2002 go in FS9 Textures and the 01 BGL file in the scenery goes in FS9 scenery. Works fine and dandy. I also downloaded the Bahamas Pirates cove scenery, it's really good, with a tiger Moth crop sprayer parked outside the hanger. Can't borrow any tools there tho  :(
