Serious problem!

Postby Midnight_LS1 » Tue Nov 23, 2004 11:30 pm

Regarding this thread:

I did that and it helped a lil bit but still not completey.

I still get suttering every few seconds, like I do a takeoff, say from 0 to 40 knots it looks like the ground is moving at 5mph then speeds up then slows down dramatically when it reaches 60-110 knots and over and over, does this on takeoff and landing making it really frustrating.

Now today I attempted to troubleshoot it, still can't find the cause.

What kind of framerates are you getting? Press Shift+Z twice to find out. If it's below about 20, you need to reduce your quality and resolution settings in the Display Options window until your framerates go up to over 20. Also, lock your framerate at 20 or 25.

That should take care of the problem

Doesn't help no matter what setting or lock the framerate is at, with it set to unlimited, I get about 30-40 most of the time and sometimes it blips to 172 +.  Tried locking it at 20 and 30fps and still does it.

Defragged your drive lately?

Also consider upgrading to a larger drive.   I find that ample HD space makes my HD work better.  I have 256M of memory but I bet 512 will work better.  I also keep a spare 80M HD to backup everything before I install new aircraft or scenery files so I can recover in case something goes wrong.  I have at least 2MB just in unzipped aircraft download files.  The frame rate tips are good ones.  Good luck!
The weather is here, wish you were beautiful...
