What are your System Specs??

Greetings all. My specs are in my sig, but I'll write them here anyway;

Intel Pentium Processor 3.6 GHz EE with HT,
3096 MB RAM,
ATi Radeon X800 XT 256MB PCI Express,
16x DVD-RW +- Drive,
16x DVD ROM Drive,
6.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Speakers,
19" Dell Ultrasharp Flatpanel,
450 GB Hard Drive

With Ultimate Traffic 100%, all settings maxed out completely and fully 3D clouds, and at SimFlyers Los Angeles v2 along with MegaScenery, I can get around 90-95 fps. I don't lock my framerates because I want the best possible performance - hey, I didn't splash out all that money on a piece of tat, you know!

running the sim at 1152 X 864 res.
pretty well everything up around the top except water effects.
As for frame rates, I never really look at them. I have them capped at 27.

I can fly into LAX or any airport at night in a 747 with no stutters or problems of any kind.

The way the frame rate thing was explained to me by a friend who is a former Lear Jet pilot and also a flight sim enthusiast and knows way more about video processing than I do is like this:

"The Target Frame Rate setting limits frame rates. So why would you want that? Because it can actually improve overall performance. It's better for the VPU not to have to discard from the frame buffer in dynamic conditions and instead do meaningful work for upcoming frames. "

Don't ask me to explain what that really means...

I'm amazed you don't get the occasional crash with only 300Watt PSU. At minimum witht at setup I'd have 400.

I would agree. 300 watts for that baby is a bit scimpy.

...and during takeoff or landing I get like 4-5 FPS, even with "clear skies"...everything maxed except the percentage of 3D-Clouds (10%). During the flight it gets as high as 24 FPS (also locked at 24). Any suggestions how I can improve the framerates? Havent installed the patch yet (and still not sure if I ever will!).

My first guess is the video card has to go.  Rest of the specs are OK...... for a "middle of the road" level of settings or performance in the sim.

I think that video card is a bit outdated...... but I know more about ATI ones.  Someone whoc knows NVidea ones will likely chime in.

Lol its ok im getting a better gfx now and since my pc is an amd athalon im not sure what speed differce it makes
Im getting fs2004 tommorow (Hopefully) its in 1st class mail in the same country
