why don't the guages work?

Postby rapidpress » Mon Nov 15, 2004 10:08 am

I downloaded a super constellation. I imported it ok, but the guages didn't show up. Can anyone advise. Do you need further info to reply? Thanks

Well, more info would be nice.  Maybe the contents of the panel folder in that aircraft's folder.

But from what you already said, did you import the gauges correctly?  Were any included with the aircraft?  And where did it come from?

Thank you for your reply Ender. I am not sure which version I have, I don't have access to my home computer right now, but I am sure the version did have guages, although they were included in a seperate folder from the main aircraft folder. I imported the  file with the 4 essential folders into the "aircraft" folder in fs2004, then opened fs2004. The aircraft was there, but no guages. I then closed fs2004, and tried to import the "guages" folder into the f2004 aircraft folder. First into the "aircraft" folder, then into the folder of the constellation aircraft itself, but to no avail. I assume you know I am new at this, I hope my description of what I am trying to accomplish is not too muddled! I think the aircraft version I have may be USAF ec121. Your patience and guidance are greatly appreciated!

Okay.  Open the gauges folder until you see all the little gauge files (they're just a bunch of unopenable files).  Open up the main FS folder and look for a folder titled "Gauges".  Now imagine what you do next? :D

Ender, I'll give it a shot, but before I do, I promise I'll learn to spell guages correctly.  Thanks for your help, I'm sure I'll have another billion questions coming up. Danny.

Make sure there is not another gauge folder within the main gauge folder. If you unzipped the download directly into fs it will make another gauge folder within the main one. Just one reason to NEVER DOWNLOAD OR UNZIP FILES STRAIGHT INTO FS. If you do this you are setting yourself up for some major headaches. 8)

Thanks to all for the help...Gauges work great...Didn't prevent me from ploughing the constellation  into a mountain trying to take off from a short island runway though!Danny
