ATC Airline Name

Postby iwannaflySC » Sun Nov 14, 2004 11:53 pm

Hey y'all -- been a while sine I've been on here. (I've been really busy, and the little spare time I find, I end up flying rather than surfin' ... well, that's good I guess
:)).

Anyway -- when I download add-on aircraft, some of them are properly configured so that ATC recognizes the airline name.  Others don't, and the airline name doesn't appear in the list in the window.  For those, either ATC uses the registration number, or the flight number, without the airline name.

Any thoughts?  Thanks y'all!  Happy flying!

FS doesn't come with every single airline built into its voicepack. What I recommend is downloading EditVoicePack (google it!), and it'll update your copy of FS to include callsigns for pretty much every airline you want, automatically.

Happy flying to yourself, too!

Regardless of what voicepack you use, the default or an expanded one, the aircraft's 'aircraft.cfg' file must have the proper entries to be recognized by atc.

[fltsim.x]
title=A320-211 NWNC
sim=Airbus320-200CFM
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=N316US
atc_airline=Northwest

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

"atc_airline= must be a valid entry."

except when it isn't
for our virtual (WestWind) airline we leave atc_airline= blank

. . . then add:

[General]
atc_type=WestWind //  (or any other airline database name )

For each texture so assigned in the aircraft.cfg, ATC calls us "WestWind"

of course, Westwind is (and always has been since FS5) in the FS9 ATC database. hope this helps
