A .cfg that doesn't want to be adjusted?

Hello!

I've got a lovely jet; it's got a couple points I'd like to 'tweak' a bit.

Just one problem: it appears to be untweakable. IOW;I make an adjustment to the .cfg; no effect at all on the aircraft's performance.
(To be exact; I'm upping the Vne a bit.)
Anyone know a) why it doesn't adjust as desired and b) how to make the adjustment?

Are you making the adjustment while FS is loaded? If so then you have to reload the plane in order to see any effect as FS is still using the old file. If you are editing out of FS make sure you are adjusting the right value.
I do not know that much about the Vne you may have to use negative numbers to get the desired effect.

Yes; I'm reloading the plane each time.
I'm an old hand at adjusting .cfg's; this one is simply not responding. I'm starting to wonder if it's possible to set the max speed in the model itself - it's the only thing I can think of at the moment.

No - the visual model has no effect on flight dynamics.  

Out of curiosity, you may want to change it (if you can) in the *.air file and see if the change transfers to the aircraft.cfg file when you reload.

StaidUk, I am unsure if this is anything to do with it but worth a try.

Under the [General] bit in the *.cfg there is the following line:

editable=0

Maybe if this is set to 1 it wont allow you to edit it?  Total guess but worth a try.

To raise the speed that the overspeed warning comes on at change this line:

max_indicated_speed = ***

If you physically want to increase the power of the plane try changing this one a bit

thrust_scalar = 1.0

up it to 1.5.  I havn't tweaked jets yet so am unsre how it will respond totally.

Hi Gixer; yes; the Max indicated airspeed was what I'm trying to adjust. (Not Vne; sorry 'bout that - that's what happens when you post at 4 in the morning. )

That 'editable' line doesn't seem to do much either.

I've been working all night with it. New info - everything else adjusts - the power scalar etc. changes; but the one thing I need tweaked - the max indicated speed - doesn't. (Figures.)

The aircraft in question is the PM2 Concorde - I'm trying to get Mach 3 out of her. It's easy enough to set everything else;  except that one value.

There is a bit in the *.air file.  Its under Flight Dynamics.  3rd one down Vmo=***   Maybe this is the max speed at which the max speed in the *.cfg can be set?

Another total gues though lol.  Cant see anything else that sticks out to do with speed.

Scrap that idea I can change the 747 so it maxes at 1000 KIAS indicated  :(
