How far you can walk 'virtually' into the cabin

Postby easyJack » Sat Sep 25, 2004 1:33 pm

Alright! I have quite a few aircraft in my FS2K4 folder (such as the Aerodesigns A318) that, when you hold the ctrl+return/backspace allows you to walk 'virtually' back about 4 metres, but then comes to a stop.
I am just wondering, is there something in the aircraft's CFG file that you can alter to allow you to move further back into the cabin?

There are two reasons I ask: Firstly, I once had  an aircraft for FS2K4 that allowed you to walk all the way to the rear of the aircraft, and secondly, on all the aircraft I have downloaded there are screenshots from various places inside the cabin.

Any kind of help at all would be greatly appreciated,

   Cheers,

   Jack.

Hi Jack,
Although I don't personally use it, other members keep going on about Active Camera - apparently it allows to 'move around' both in and out of the a/c.

This should do the trick, maybe I should use it myself ::)

Cheers mate,

Carl out.....

Only if a cabin has been created as part of the model....killer on frames though, for most.
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

But when there is a cabin and ya do have ActiveCam, it's quite an treat. I can wander back into the cabin, grab a seat by the window and enjoy the flight -- just like a virtual passenger.

Course, if I've consumed a few too many of those wee little drinks, I might wind up sitting out on the wing. Now that's an interesting experience. ::)

Cheers! I downloaded the trial version, and I'm quite happy to start off at Tacoma, pick a seat, then go to my departure airport and it's still fine in VC once the time limit's run out... only problem is the turb/runway effects of the camera bumping up and down is gone, and that is pretty cool, so I may very well register it some time  :)

I believe Active Camera is around 15.00

You can walk around anywhere you want to. I personally have a few graphical bugs when using it and I have seen screenshots from others that appear to have the same issue.

If you do a walk around, some of the ground scenery disappears, or if near mountainous terrain, the mountains will disappear leaving floating trees, though these are issues only when doing an external walk around view. Secondly in walk around, approx every 15 to 30 seconds the camera acts up and flips through a few different outside views for a second then reverts back to the walk around view.

Also there is an issue using Active camera and Lago's FSE, where FSE no longer functions. (I have not found a fix for this yet)

The biggest advantages to active camera are in a virtual cockpit/cabin you feel the turbulence, and while taxiing down the runway you get movement of the camera as if you were on a bumpy terrain. Next, you can walk through a virtual cabin as far as you want, sitting in any seat you wish (if the plane has a virtual cabin), and lastly there are fly-by and approach views which give a pretty damn cool perspective. Especially approach view.
