Exiting causes freeze up HELP

Postby stevewilson » Sat Sep 25, 2004 12:19 am

Last night FS9 started freezing up at two differante times:

1) After a few minintes into the program, useally will taxing, or just sitting, FS9 freezes and won't let me exit.

2) This one is weird. If #1 hasn't happened, and I go to exit using the Esc key or the red X in the upper right corner, I sometimes get the Do you want to exit Y/N screen, I choose yes and the screen goes black for a moment and then I get the fatal error msg. Sometimes I don't get the do I want to exit msg the screen just goes black

I've tried removing fs9.cfg and restarting, but still does the same thang.

Any ideas people?

Not an unfamiliar problem with FS9
i'm surprised removing fs9.cfg (and letting FS9 build a new one next start-up) didn't fix it.
Guess you have to go into process-of-elimination mode:

1.) delete fs9.cfg (again)
each time FS9 screws up this file is corrupted
2.) restart sim loading ONLY default flight and default plane and default scenery

Fly around and test it.

The problem you describe can be caused by any number of addons or the built-into FS9 "Spring Season Bug"

Don't use Spring season in FS9 if you are experiencing these crashes-to-desktop or hanging of Windows

bill
p.s. it's often caused by poorly written addon scenery

Bill  Thanks for the reply. I've reistalled the fs9.cfg several times, and I'm into the Fall season.

The last several times I've started FS9 and then tried shuting it down, it will exit like it should, but a moment later I still get the error warning stating that FS9 has caused an error, and wants to send a report.

The report list fs9.cfg, dxdiag and scenery.cfg will be included in the report.

Your post script makes alot of scense, cause this problem started will I am working on an AFCAD2 addon scenery that I am building. I'll take a look at this area.

This one is hard to figuar out because it is intermitten and doesn't it everytime.

Again thanks for the advice.

Bill if you are following this thread, I figuared it out. I was using several F-15s as AIs.

I don't know what it is about them, but as soon as I deleted them from my flightplans the problem seemed to have stopped.
