New B-52 Impressions

Postby _526th_Fireman » Sat Sep 25, 2004 10:49 am

I downloaded and installed the latest B-52 for FS9 by Yaetsu Yoshimitsu and Hiroaki Kubota. Also got the panel recommended for it.

I must say this is one fine acft. Graphics are great, flight characteristics are nice, visuals for landing gear, flaps and spoilers are nice. No VC though.

Two problems that I did encounter are these:

1] Smoke effects did not display until I changed the effects name. In the acft.cfg [lights] section it lists the effect as fx_smoke_b52. The actual effect file you install into the "Effects" folder is fx_smoke_B52. Note the Capital "B". Rather than change all the listings in the acft.cfg, I just renamed the effect in the "Effects" folder to fx_smoke_b52. Must turn your lights on in order to see the smoke. No biggy.

2] No visual on the drag chute even though there is a texture for it. When you hit your "Speed Brake", the wing speed brakes work and the the chute door at the rear of acft. opens, but no chute. Guess they forgot to pack it!! ;-)  I believe this is a problem in the model file, which means the author would have to correct.

All and all, a very fine acft.

I got all the goodies and all the power I need to run anything thrown at me for the next two months!

Where did you download the B-52 from? I've done a search but can't find the 52 by the creators you've listed.
I had downloaded a B52 while back that was just horrible. Been looking for a new one.

Hey fireman, how in the world do you keep a whopper like a B-52 lined up and still manage to check for (not necessary to the cockpit experience) eye candy??  Or do you do instant replay?  I do that to check on my approaches a lot, especially with heavies.

Hay Fireman:  I have the droug chute. Did you get the B-52_sp, or the B52fullup file. As I understand it there were some problems with B-52_sp files.
