even with a new comp, speedbrake prbs dont end

Postby beefhole » Wed Sep 22, 2004 4:00 pm

Someone might rememebr I posted a really long time ago about how shift+/ didnt arm my speedbrake, it just put it full up.  Well, guess wut! New comp, and although the speedbrake thing was in the back of my mind (I was looking for an FPS boost, which I'm getting), but I was definitely looking forward to that problem being fixed.  Heh, yea right. I STILL cannot arm my speedbrake.  I have to do it manually, and it doesnt deploy on its own.  I was wondering-new comp, new keyboard-how could this possibly happen?  I'm thinking it MUST be some coding error in my particular game.  Any suggestions? (changing the key assignment does nothing)

also-anti-aliasing doesnt seem to be working. The cities look like they do when anti-aliasing is turned off. I have a GeForce 5200 Ultra or something like that.

I have at leaast one plane in my hanger that has the same problem.
It could be that the function has to be put in at the time of the planes design or something may have been left out of the aircraft cfg file for that plane that allows you to do that.
I have not reasearched it that much. My gut tells me something is missing in the aircraft cfg file.
But it could be a design flaw. The designer may have omitted the animation for that. If this is true then you can not change it without having the source file and fixing it.
I for one do not worry about it that much it is not that important to me. But if it is to you your choices are to try to fix it or put the plane in your graveyard.
Let me know if you discover something missing in the aircraft cfg file. Or if I get off my behind I will look at my plane and maybe figure something out. If I find any thing that corrects the problem I will let you know.

Yes, its FS9, and brace yourself... I'm not talking about addon planes.  These are the default planes we're talking about.  I'm now definitely thinking that it's a problem with my personal disc set.  When the problem isn't solved by getting a new comp and keyboard, the problem isn't going to get solved. Ugh...

Actually, it was 2002 that worked great for me. Like a charm.  It's FS9 thats problematic.

Its funny that you have that problem with fs9 and had the same problem with 2002 not fs9. the problem i have with fs9 now is, when i pull up the knee board or the learning center, you know the scroll bar to the right? whenever i tried to scroll up or down it jumble all up. like each line overlaping each other. i asked in a previous post for help but nobody reply. i guess i am not clear on what i am asking.

hmmmm

I just flew the default 737 (which I do rarely let me tell you!) IFR from Gatwick to Stansted. En route I set max autobrake and armed the spoilers (Shft+/). Did a greaser of a landing and stopped in what seemed like yards!

In the instant replay watched the spoliers auto-deploy beautifully.

Can't see how yours can NOT do it - it's programmed in the sim after all, it's not PC dependent.

Things I can think of

Shft+/ is a toggle. If you do it once it arms the spoilers. If you do it a second time it disarms em. Do it once and leave it alone

You must have a setting in the air file (the default 737 does have) '337 Spoiler Auto Deploy Available = True (1)'

Without this it won't work (and most likely some d/loaded planes will not have the correct setting)

Also you must NOT have changed the default key assignment of course  :)

Umm, yea, I think I know shift+/ is a toggle.  But the thing about the .air file is interesting, I'll check it out.  And it is with all aircraft, all default and downloaded.

Ok, I just checked the .air file.  Mostly jumble.  Man, I gotta tell you, out of all the FS problems I've ever heard of, thsi si by far one of the weirdest.  I have no doubt its a problem with my disc set.
