Show off you hometown to other simmer's

Hi,

Just out of curiosity, do any of you have anything to show off in your simulated hometown airports. I'm thinking of maybe some guided tours. You know "this is the so-and-so river" and "take a look at the mountains 30 NM to the east of (insert your hometown here)". Maybe even some hometowns that have interesting approaches. I think it might be cool to fly somewhere new that I normally wouldn't because it's not an area I know very well or a larger airport. Let me know what you think.

Only thing here is the Gateway Arch in St Louis. Looks like a giant horseshoe stuck in the ground, and the Mississippi river is missing the gambling riverboats

Sorry but microsoft haven't seen my country very well yet(venezuela)all the airport doesn't look even close from what they really are Maiquetia for example look like an a private airport instead is an international one
wich many concordes landed there,and the cities doesn't even get close to the real life,more funny.. only one airport has an ILS ...LOL...the real matter is we have more than 10 international airpors with everything
ILS,VOR,etc....I hope fs2006 brough us a litle more realistic

I live in Sevierville TN, local airport (GKT), depart runway 28 and take a left follow the road and you'll pass Pigeon Forge then into the Smoky Mountains to Gatlinburg on into NC.
Unfortanately Dollywood isn't shown (Pigeon Forge) which is also a major tourist attraction along with all the outlet malls.
But if you were to depart runway 10 and go left you'll see Douglas Lake, which is now turning into the surface of Mars (they drain the lake in the fall And to think I got suckered into buying "lake front" property. Neat thing is they did get the road I live on out on a point, funny thing is where my house should be looks more like a factory?? and where is the dam?
Anyway this is a good subject for screenies! Might head out and get some to post!
Another airport I hang at a lot is Knoxville Downtown (Island home) DKX, it is what it is called on a island, you can leave from there and see Knoxville, and this stupid looking gold ball ontop of a pole, something they built for the Worlds Fair in the 80s, M$ put that in but left out Neyland stadium, home of the over rated TN Volunteers.

Directly infront of the active is the local power plant, gavin plant. To the right of the active is the ohio river. and then to the back right or so of the active are 1 or 2 bridges thry lead to point pleasent the place where the world famous MOTH MAN was.  And to those who watch the movie , the silver bridge stood to the front right of the active.

Stop by and say hi to me! I live about 30 miles left of the active, right next to the more than noticeable tycoon lake! big fish righ' dare mayne....mmmmmmmhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm.....

Well even though Farnborough plays a very important part in the UK's aero history, in FS its a plain airport with nothing interesting near it.

Its nice to know though that some me-262 fighters were brought here after the war for testing. Its seen some crashes and some nice airshows.

I live about the distance it takes a 737 to take-off from the place.

The Flight Sim scenery in my country, England, is naff in the extreme.
My local airfield and surrounding area looks NOTHING like it does in real life.. ...!
...and my town doesn't exist..nor the big river which flows through it... ...!.
Nothing in it compares to the landscape and buildings which I see outside every day... ...!

Which is the total reason why I ALWAYS fly in California, because the scenery there is EXACTLY the same as I view on my relief maps of the same area, from San Francisco to San Diego... ...!

My home airport, PAAQ, in Palmer, Alaska.  All the rivers and mountains... and glaciers are in the right spots.  It's very realistic.  The river running next to the airport is the Matanuska River which is fed by a glacier a couple miles back, and that intersects with the Knik River just a couple miles down, which is also fed by a glacier.  It's a ten minute flight to Ted Stevens International airport, to the south.

Oak Harbor, WA is my hometown. The local public airport is 76S but there is an air base (KNUW) north of town. Oak Town is located on Whidbey Island, the longest island in the mainland U.S at around 50 miles long. The Olympic mountains lie to the west and the cascades to the east. Vancouver lies to the north and Seattle to the south about 50nm. Beyond Seattle is Mt. Rainier, Washington's biggest mountain/volcano. Another popular nearby airport is Eastsound airport on Orcas Island which is a few miles to the north. (Don't remember the airport code though) If your ever visit here in FS tell me and I'll tell you more sights around the area

Dillingham, Alaska (PADL) is my current home, located in southwest Alaska.  We're world famous for the Bristol Bay Red Salmon fishery.  M.S. forgot to put the town in but the surrounding area is fairly accurate.  The airport is fair but the real beauty is all of the remote bush flying available.  Lots of small dirt strips in the many surrounding villages on the Nushagak River for your super cub adventures. If your partial to float flying like I am, you can take off from nearby Shannon's Pond (0Z3) and head north to the Wood-Tikchik State Park for some great scenery.  We're approximately 350 airmiles from Anchorage (PANC) and a trip through Lake Clark Pass is always fun.  My hometown is Ketchikan, Alaska (PAKT) and there's tons of great float flying in that part of the state.  Hop in your "rag and tube" aircraft and stop by for a visit  You'll enjoy the country I'm sure!

My home town of Brisbane, Australia is VERY badly done in FS.  Basically, take-off from YBAF, turn east and there's the Pacific Ocean.  That's it.

At least YBAF is fairly well done.

And if any of you know of any scenery for the Brisbane area it'll be greatly appreciated.

My town is v.poorly represented, in fact over 80 airfields are missing from my adoptive homeland
However there have been some great add-ons made by a Hungarian group that includes my local field!!!
So take a look in screenies at my Chipmunk pics and you'll see loads

My hometown doesnt have an airport  I usually fly out of KLOZ in London, Ky or 1A6 in Middlesboro (where Glacier Girl, a fully restored P-38 fighter, lives).  My house is somewhere in between those two, about 20-30 miles from either one.  My town is on the map, there is very little detail, but I've managed to identify a few of the blury boxes as buildings I know of.  If you visit either of my little airports, its just a small hop to the south over the Cumberland Gap to visit Efilnikufesin and Fretnstuff.  :)
