Is there a way to eliminate Simulation Rate

Postby alrot » Sun Aug 22, 2004 8:17 pm

I always tempted to redusce fly time when i make long flights after a decicion not to use Sim Rate minutes later i began "lets make it fewer 2x them 4x until the maximum 16x i always said im not gonna use it any more, but its just so easy that i broke my own rules,I bet that many of you use this resource, please does any body knows if it can be deleted,i'm sure  its an *.dll, but which one?  :(

umm...ever heard of self discipline?
???
Seriously, do not speed up the sim-rate, how can that be so hard?

Whenever I do my long haul flights, I will rely on the autopilot.
I will check when my top of descent is, go away from the comp just to return a couple of minutes before it's time for descent. That's why I like FS, you can be social with your buddies even though you "play" computer game at the same time

;Dyeah you are right, ive tried ,but what about ifr even a 5 hours flight i left the machine with all the volumen up to doing any duty an suddelly "landmark xxx please desend FL28 and turn 185 degrees, i have to run and leave what im doing after less than a minute the atc tells me to go back to the same route where i was before, maybe its trafic i know,i can't do two things at same time,so i guess i'll have to sit at night and make as a real pilot, the entire flight, its matter of disipline >:( >:( ;D ;D ;D ;D ;Dor flight in autopilot as you do hoping not to crash with a cessna or some sort :-[ ;D

ALROT, nice to see a fellow astronomer out there. I'm a member of the Middle Georgia Astronomical Society. We have public viewings every(clear)friday night at our local museum.
Nice set of scopes you have there.

Have you thought of unassigning the keystroke from the simrate feature? You want to disable it right? How about just making it unaccessable?

That's my idea.

Speeding up time is cheating. I've logged hundreds of hours of flightsim flight time without ever speeding up time, and it's all been done in front of the computer. I never turn the autopilot on and leave the computer. If in the unlikely event that I do need to leave the computer for any reason, I pause it.

I've done 10 hour flights, all real time sitting in front of the computer. I once even did a 14 hour flight, and the autopilot wasn't working properly so I handflew it most of the way ;D

Open the Flight Simulator, go into the settings, controlls, and then into assignments. Scroll down untill you see the option 'Select Time Compression'. Once selected, click 'Delete Key Assingment'

Simple innit? ;D

Pilot rule #1- FLY the plane!

You know if the airline companies see a topic like this they might decide to get rid of stewards! "Hey the pilot has nothing better to do for the next 8 hours, we'll have him serve the drinks and peanuts."  ;D ;D ;D

Sitting infront of the comp. for 10hrs is more than I can handle, I mean that's almost the whole day as far as I'm concerned. And besides I don't have 10-14 hrs to spend infront of the comp. anyway.

So I can't see why that is cheating, speding up time is actually HARDER, since you have to plan your descent much better and it causes more stress.  ;)

Me too. Which is why I only do short hop flights of 2 hours or less - that's about as much as I'm willing to put up with in one go.

I don't like to speed up the simulation, cos then you're defeating the whole point of it being a simulation. Besides, I like to look out of the windows to see the scenery you would see if you were doing this journey in real life.

But anyone who sits in front of the computer for a full 10 hour flight must be a bit of a nutter if you ask me! God, it's boring enough just sitting around for that long on a real flight, let alone in a simulation!

I don't have 10-14 hrs to spend infront of the comp.

I do and let me tell ya, I still use the SimRate to full advantage. I may have the time, just not the patience.

I don't like to speed up the simulation, cos then you're defeating the whole point of it being a simulation.

I believe it's taking advantage of it being a simulation.

Just my 1.2575 cents,

Joe

I'm glad I don't fall into that catagory!
