I'm no great authority on this but here's my opinion. Installing programs like the M$ sims might be better on a separate partition from your OS. Going online for even a few minutes every day can soon fragment the HD. With the large HDs commonly used these days a Defrag can take some considerable time. It's quicker & more convenient to Defrag a partition regularly rather than the complete HD. The ideal situation would be to use a separate HD for this purpose. Unlike all previous versions of FS/CFS, FS9 uses some files (like fs9.cfg) in locations other than its own directory. I don't know how this would affect anything.

Hi Alrot. I have 2 hard drives on my old machine. The biggest drive is partitioned so in effect I have 3. I've installed the earlier M$ sims to all drives without a problem. In some cases I've had more than one install* of CFS2 on separate drives which all ran quite happily. (*I've never tried this with FS9 & doubt it would work.)

I was always a little wary of partitioning a drive that is already in use.
