and what would be the problem if you delete separate partitions in hdd an create only one and install the fs9 inside xp (fat32) Its just an opinion ;) I don't like to partitioned the hard drives unless you need diferent plataforms like Linux(unisys)and xp in a single drive for work,i know why some hdd drive dies young and others dies old,i for the one partitions are responsible in most of the cases,like i said its my opinion ;)

I have FS9 on it's own partition and have no problems. But I use Win2K and know very little about WinXP

They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.

Sorry..... there's no argument there.  A 120Gb SATA HDD performs far better under NTFS & XP when partitioned than un-partioned.

FS9 also runs faster, and is FAR easier to reinstall when installed on a separate partition.

However, that's not the problem.

Try this- select the flight you want to make default. when it comes up mark the (make default flight) AGAIN. stop the sim after it stops loading and restart it again on more time. You should go to this flight every time from here on in. I know I run windows XP PRO and it never fails. happy flights

I don't see what the OS or whether your drive is partitioned has to with this. Providing you save the flight under a suitable name & check the "Make this the default flight" box it should load with this flight every time you start FS9. The default flight is defined in fs9.cfg under the [USERINTERFACE] header. Here's the entry for my own default flight.
SITUATION=C:\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files\Piper Cub - Shoreham *

The only possibility I can think of is that somehow your fs9.cfg has been converted to a Read-only file. In this case any changes will not be saved. If you continue to have problems try deleting fs9.cfg. A new one will be created next time you start FS9.

*PS. Note that I'm using WinMe. The default location for saved flights might be different in WiinXP.

Right. Now maybe we're getting somewhere. ::)

Phil, may I suggest that you select one of the FS9 default flights (from Select a Flight) & check the "Make this the default flight" box. Then click "Fly Now" to start the flight before quitting FS9. Now take a look at fs9.cfg to see if the change has been recorded.

If this doesn't work I can only assume that installing FS9 to a different drive or partition from the one that fs9.cfg is located DOES affect it somehow. I find this difficult to believe. Although fs9.cfg (& possibly the flights themselves) are in different locations on Win98/Me & WinXP I can't see how the OS can affect it.
