night lighting of tarmac

Postby oldflyergray » Sat Aug 21, 2004 3:46 pm

night flying at airports is better on fs9 than before. the problem i experience is the lighting of all taxiways, tarmac, and aprons is so bright it makes it hard to see the runways from the air when flying so you can see where to land. question i am posing to all you simmers is 1. why  all the brightness . 2 is there anyway to dim the white tarmac and taxiways to a lower setting. 3. am i the only one who has noticed that aircraft are sitting on a neon airport ground.???

Try to provide a screen shot, that will help us find out what you mean.

sorry i am not in the know on sending shots to forums. to describe the effect, all of the taxiways, aprons and other asphalt and/or concrete areas of an airport show up at night as if the lighting was being shown thru the ground surface and you will see planes and objects on these areas as black objects. I need to reduce the brightness so that the taxiway lighting will show better, being the blue taxiway lights.

Can you capture a screen shot and e-mail it to someone to put on for you? I'm willing...

I think the Airport enviroment upgrade will help solve this, search the downloads section.
What your saying it is like the terminal cast light over the whole airport? I have noticed this at the bigger airports.

Try wearing sunglasses on approach ;D

Sounds like your night textures for the asphalt and concrete have been overwritten or corupted.

The simple thing is a reinstall of fs2004.  With some techanical savy.... you can find those textures and replace them with teh files in the cab on the original disks.

best,

There's a light halo change that will change the light cast by your plane's headlight available at FS Freeware...

I believe i have discovered the problem with my lighting of the airports-i upgraded my texture file with aeu6.zip and all my runways failed to showup in any color but pure white and no blacktop or concrete color
