Ever had This problem?

Postby Saitek » Thu Aug 19, 2004 1:36 am

The real world weather would not work.
Said I wasn't connected to the internet::)... dummy... I just went on there before I came on the sim. My internet is connected from first thing in the morning to last thing at night.

It was definately on, because I checked and re-entered the sim. But every 15mins in my flight I was stopped by a stupid message saying an error had occurred and that the weather could not work. :o
Any ideas why it didn't and still won't work?::)

I have had this happen many times and also if I'm connected to the internet and try to fly multi-player I will stay connected for a few minutes then then get disconnected.
It is weird, I never loose my internet connection, it never "times out" unless I try to access it using FS9 and some other programs that want internet access.
I have looked to be certain my firewall wasn't blocking it (might check there first!) and all is fine.
I can download "static weather" but if I try to fly with "updates" after about 15 mins, my internet connection dis-connects. And I still haven't a clue as too why?
I have similar problems with Music Match Jukebax, when I insert a disc it will go and look up cd info, well most of the time, a lot of the time it will tell me that I must be connected for it too work and yes I usally am!

Question for you is , Have you already installed SP2?
If so did this happen before SP2?
It is known SP2 has some bugs with certain programs, I have yet to experiance any problems (been using SP2 for three months). If you have it check the firewall settings there.
My "disconnected?" problems were happening long before SP2 so it isn't suspect.

The SP packs seem to have caused problems. Also if you go through a router this causes issues.

In my experience FS has no problems with a router, but it might be worth checking that the ports FS needs are available.

Or it could be  that the weather station your trying to get the weather from did not report or is offline

happens sometimes

Some ISPs disconnect after 15 mins of operating with no inputs to the internet. FS9 checks weather at 15 min intervals. You need a program running in the background that will keep you connected. I used to have one in the dark ages before High speed cable. Can't remember what it was called tho, it was so long ago  8)

Hi

Remember to tell your firewall to allow FS9 to access the internet. (Or is that to obvious  ;)).
And if you have no firewall - well that's just asking for it  ::)
