The only way I know of is to create a new panel folder for the new panel (call it somethign like panel.autopilot), then in the aircraft.cfg, copy your existing aircraft.x (or x's) then add panel=autopilot (or whatever you call the panel folder).

Uhh... I hope that made sense.

Sorry that's totally wrong.

Just get hold of CfgEdit ( a freeware panel editing prog that edits panel.cfg for you) and learn how to add a Radio_Stack_Panel (note precise wording) containing a suitable autopilot to your existing panel that is activated by clicking on the avionics icon from say the default Mooney. Learn how to set it up by opening the panel.cfg of other aircraft that have pop-up panels and asking questions here.

Suitable 'classic' autopilots include the one in the Connie panel or the old FS2002 DC4/6 panels.

You can even add a GPS too if you want.

You will then have to add an autopilot section in the aircraft.cfg file (easy enough - just copy the one from say the kingair or another prop) but I don't think you'd better mess at this stage adding an autothrottle  ;)

If you don't try you don't learn.

I guess I should have waited until after I had my morning coffee.

I thought he was asking about a switchable main panel.  But yeah, now that I see it clear, RollerBall is 100% correct.

Alrighty... no more posting for me until I've had my routine pot of ultra strong coffee.  ::)

???

Hey JRoc - sorry if my posting sounded personally critical. I've just re-read it. It wasn't meant to be. We're all members of the same family trying to do the same thing here.

Budd, give it a go. As you can see, there's loads of help around to give you a hand. It's not a difficult one at all but you'll find out much more if you try for yourself first and someone doesn't just give it to you.

Hey, I just remembered I installed Memphis Belle a while ago but never flew it. I see I aliased the panel to my DC6 panel and I hadn't even finished doing the sound. I've just aliased that as well to my DC6.

Here's my panel which has all the bits of the 'classic' autopilot in place (it's tricky - you have to learn how to use it) plus I've also already done a pop-up GPS

Image

Is this the kind of thing you maybe had in mind?

This the easiest way - but if you don't want to see the autopilot and stuff all the time you can just do what I said in the beginning and have it pop up in a panel with the radios.

I've done it either way depending on the plane.

Can someone here help me?  I have downloaded sound FX and cabin panels.

How do I add a cabin download to an aircraft?

For example, I downloaded a 747, I then downloaded a inst. panel and installed it. Now I want to install the cabin interior that I downloaded.

The way I installed the inst. panel was by removing and replacing the entire aircraft panel folder.

Now I have to add lines to the panel.cfg I think in order to add the interior while keeping the instrument panel.

Anyone?

regards.

Another Q:

I want to install an interior that was originally designed for a specific 737. I want to install it in a 727 that I have.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

RB,

Is that a freeware panel or the payware version?  I'd like to get that one and do some tweaking myself.

:)

Jim it's Freeware

It was originally FS98/2000 I think but it's fine in 04.

The basic panel is on California Classics but I've added/moved around avionics.

Also make sure you get the DC4/6 sound file if you haven't got it - grrrreeeaat!

I find the best way to learn is to look at other Panel.cfg files and play\experiment around. I even figured out how to make my own SimIcons.
