Water Dogs and Gauge problems

Postby jordonj » Fri Aug 13, 2004 11:02 pm

I have recently been adding on some amphibious planes and I have some questions.

I think that radio has some on/off switch on it somewhere try hitting all the buttons on it, if not I remember a radio stack where I could not get one part to turn on also, and it kinda looked similar to yours

Thanks, I can get the top part to work just fine, but not the middle (circled part). I don't even know what it is.

I fixed the Antonov...you have to open up the default DC-3's Panel Folder, and locate the .cab file.  Then copy this file over to your FS9 gauges folder. You may have to re-name this .cab file to DC3Gauges.  Next do the same with the Lockheed Vega cab without re-naming.

This was all in the readme (along with how to get the textures for the Canadian and German planes) ::)

insert sound of me slapping myself here...

To add a wake, open the aircraft.cfg and look for;
[EFFECTS]
then under that add the following two lines;
wake=fx_wake
water=fx_spray

Ozzy ;)

I had a similar problem with one of my radios in a particular aircraft.
It was not possible to switch the radios on from any of the panel switches or radio switches, possibly due to an omission by the designer in the "Panel Folder" text file...?

I posted the problem on the Forum and one of the lads came back with the cure....

"Go to Key Assignments and assign Caps + A to switch on the radios, (Avionics)".

Worked fine then... ;D...!

Cheers all... ;)...!

Paul.

P.S. I've got the Antanov package, and have never been able to cure the strange missing engine gauges, etc... :'(...!
...a bit of "iffy" programming...?
LOL...!

Just went thru your radio problem myself, in the Aircraft folder is a documentation folder with brief instructions on all the avionics on this aircraft. If I rembember correctly, the top portion of the left button area will turn on this insturment ,which is an electronic version of an E6b.

No expert here but the problem with the Antonov looks like you didn't put the gauges in the fs9/gauges folder, just a guess.

I don't know what an E6b is...I assume this is the lake we're talking about.

I can get the radio and squawk transponder to work just fine, I just cant get to the AP and whatever that middle part is.

Found what I think was an updated version...I'll post new images and what I did to fix the problems...

Now all I would like to do is get the rest of the Renegade Radio stack workin' (I usually fly VOR and no AP anyways, so if I can't, no great loss...would be nice to see it all work though...)

To get that instrument to work on the Lake Renegade you need to click under the knob. The knob that looks like the ones to turn the other isntruments on is used for something else with that instrument. Try clicking just a little underneath it. Look for the hand cursor without a "+" or "-" sign. That means you are on top of the click spot to turn the guage on.

The wake on the Maule is a special effects file. It isn't the default effect that comes with ACOF. Make sure you put the effect in your "Effects" folder. Actually it's a modified version of "waterlan" effect (just learned this myself) that gives you a lot more spray than the default wake effect.

I managed to solve the missing gauges in the Antonov and found an updated file to make the Maule work as it should here.  I also left instructions for the Antonov as well...
