With all do respect,I preserve every default plane the way they come,I think the dinamics are closest of the real life planes, you should save first the original by making a copy of the lear folder, them make the experiments with a copy, its my opinion only

I also rather fly the default FS9 aircraft because I like the closest to real. I am just playing with the configuration just to see what can be change and how to change it. I already backed up every Panel folder and air file and aircraft.cfg file for every add on and default FS9 aircraft that I have. I backed up every one so I would have a backup so If I mess something up in the configuration while installing new aircraft paints to the aircraft.cfg file or installing upgrades to the panel, so it would be easy to replace.

I agree with Alrot, jucing up the .air file to make it easier to fly is not cool :-/

I was not doing it to make it easier to fly. I was just messin with it to a small glitch in the autopilot that effects the altitude hold, once I get above FL200 the auto pilot can't hold the nose level, it keeps pulling the nose up and climbs about 300ft above the assigned altitude the puts the nose down and goes about 100ft below the assigned altitude the repeats that. But it will never stay steady.

While I was doing that I saw the speed and just started messing with it to see what kind of changes it would make.

Hey; each to his own!

If Cybersurf wants to enter the wonderful world of modding; tinkering like he's doing is a good way to start.

Cybersurf: Each plane has 2 files working in conjunction to provide the flight dynamics: the .air file and the aircraft.cfg.
If you've never done this before; I strongly recommend you ignore the .air file (which contains the aircraft's base parameters and characteristics)

When you get this "air file " thing figured out let me know.

I want to get my DC3 to be able to do Mach 2! ;D ;D

In all seriousness would that be possible? Just for Sh*ts and Giggles. To be able to modify a few lines in the files to make a 3 go that fast? or Have M$ actually made the defaults accurate enough to know that the plane was never designed for that so if it was done the Gooney would just tear apart?

Yes you can alter the air file and the aircraft.cfg file to increase the aircraft's speed. I will also give you the information to increase the reverse thrust power.

As for your question about the plane being capible of such a fast speed, Yes the plane is capible of it but only if you change some varibles in the aircraft.cfg file.

I will give you the information that I have to do so.

1} Open your aircraft.cfg
2} Find

especially when you have the Military Effects Pack v1.2 by Toshikazu-Shimizu (Water-Toshi) installed.  The Sonic Boom is awesome!

And where can that be found? I have looked and can only find V1 for 2002.

I really don't know. I usully go to http://www.go.com  Then in the search bar I type FS2004 Military Effects Pack v1.2 or any file name after "FS2004" and it will tell you where to find the file. But you have to have the exact file name and "Military Effects Pack v1.2" is not it.

Sorry folks, I've been working so I haven't been on the forums for a while.

In answer to fretnstuff's question about the latest  Military Effects Pack v1.2 by Toshikazu-Shimizu (Water-Toshi) you can download it here:

http://ww71.tiki.ne.jp/~water-t/milpac012.zip

I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!  I have it installed on just about all of my military jet aircraft.

Thanks Greycat!
I have been looking for a good effects pack for my limited amount of jets, mainly my favorite Kirk Olsens Viper!

No problem fretnstuff!!

Another excellent Add-On is the Carrier Operation Package by Rob Barendregt and Doug Dawson.  You can pick it up here:

http://www.simviation.com/fsgauges_7.htm

If you love flying Modern US Navy warplanes (like I do) it's a must have!!  F-14's Rule!!

One of the gauges that this fine package contains is an excellent Sonic Boom effect.  Install is easy and can be done on any aircraft (not just on carrier-landable aircraft).  Install it on the Excalubur Stratocruiser (see my reply above) or Kirk Ollsen's F-16 even!!

After you install be sure to switch views to "Spot View" right before you go to Mach 1.  You will see your aircraft enclosed in a cloud of vapor immediately before Mach 1, the cloud begins dissipating as you reach Mach 1 then you'll hear "KAA-BOOM!!".  It's highly entertaining.
