Cleared to land....36L?

This has happened to me several times and I wonder if it has happened to anyone else.  While on "final approach" at some of the larger international airports (ie. Portland, Los Vegas) etc. "with clearance to land" ~ situated a few thousand yards from the end of the runway, flaps down, gear down, doing an airspeed of about 100mph in my Mooney.  Suddenly some AI commercial jet goes around me (how I don't know)....cuts in front and trys to land?    He or she gets a call from the tower requesting them to abort their landing!  The AI is compliant and everything is back to normal.....what the

The tower does give me a "sort of warning" when they give clearance to the approaching (aircraft) to land on the same runway that I am trying to use.  The AI responds that they are on final about 5 miles away and will be landing on the same patch of real estate that I have clearance to use!  My questions are ~

A. So at that point (when you realize someone is about to eat your tail feathers off) should you abort your landing and turn out of the pattern?  B. And if your are supposed to turn out of the pattern....in which direction are you supposed turn and "at full speed" I would assume?  C. What are the rules governing this in real world situations?

That is the problem with AI planes they just do not have any manners
You are to close when you can count the dots on the pilots tie.
Spacing is not one of FS2004 fine points.
In the real world ATC will try to get the slowwer planes to speed up if they can and the jets will have to put it in grandma gear.

garymbuska ~ I have noticed....when the AI pilot in a jet says he is 5 to 7 miles from touchdown and your only doing 90 to 100mph in front of him....he goes around you like a "bat out of....you know where" even if he is in "grandma gear"!

If you are in IFR an you select to go-around, ATC will give you instructions on what to do, but be warned, it will take 5-10 minutes to go-around.

In real life I believe that airport approach plates (charts) list the procedures for which way to turn for a go-around and at what speed for the specific airport. Maybe someone can back me up...or tear m to pieces

Yes my hands get a little sweaty when i have one of those 747s on my tail in the landing pattern.cause i have crash effects on.and with my VA i sometimes have 2 and 3 hour flights on the line and all can be lost in a matter of minits.the AI talks really well but there really blind as a bat.

Hey pooty13901......Would you know where you might get approach charts or are they something that only real world pilots have access to?  

Billerator ~ Do you think if I use IFR and do the 5 to 10 minute go around......the AI will do the same thing again?

You are correct approach plates do give the standard missed approach procedures. But it is always best to contact the tower in case they want you to go someplace else

Corbin that was my point the AI in fs do not follow standard procedures it is every plane for itself.
I make a habbit of looking around before i get on the glide slope if I see another plane i sometimes press y then speed up the rate so the plane lands in front of me.

Thanks for the flying tip   ......sounds like a great idea.....will start looking around for the traffic while in the landing pattern......amazing the things you learn at Simviation isn't it!  Great forum!

during some busy periods. Pilots will fly an S like course to the runway when there is slower traffic infront of them. This will then slow the approach of the faster jet. However FS has yet to take this into account. Besides if jets fly past you without you knowing they were there in the first place, then your not paying enough attention:)
