Scenery Problem

Postby Zaphod » Thu Jul 29, 2004 9:04 am

Hi all.
I recently downloaded a set of aircraft called "Waco classic aircraft corporation" (ccwaco4.zip). The download includes 6 variations of aircraft but also some scenery which includes a hanger for the Waco company. So far so good. The files all install themselves when you unzip into the fs9 root folder. My problem is this. Everytime I start fs9 I get an info box saying "Building database for new scenery files etc". I have found the new scenery file (Wacohanger.bgl) in a folder called scenery in my addon scenery folder.
What must I do to stop getting the info message whenever I load fs9?

All the best.
Zaphod.

if you already instaled the new add-on scenery it should do one time,if you close the pgrm and does again, and again, you might have conflict, first check inside of fs9 folder add-on scenery take out and put in a safe place all *. bgl that where there,it will do that one more time,
see if it does again and tell me?

Hi Zaphod. I think I have this file myself. I'm not a great believer in auto-installers. Opinions vary on the best method for installing 3rd party scenery. The Addon Scenery\scenery folder is already activated by default so any BGL files pasted into this folder are automatically recognised when you next start FS9. This might be convenient but is not the ideal method. IMHO

If I was doing this I would create a folder named Waco in the FS9\Addon Scenery folder with subfolders named Scenery & Texture. Then cut & paste (move) the BGL file into Waco\Scenery. Do the same for any textures from Addon Scenery\texture into Waco\Texture. Fire up FS9 & activate Waco as a new area from the Scenery Library. I think that should fix the problem but can't guarantee it.

This takes much longer for me to describe than for you to do it. I use the method described in my Scenery Clinics for installing all types of 3rd party scenery to all my own sims.

Hope this is some help.

Many thanks for both prompt replies.
I followed your instructions Hagar, and it worked fine. I agree it is a much better method for dealing with add on scenery!

Thanks again.
