Throttle Control

Hi: My throttle on my Logtech Wingman Extreme works fine on single engine aircraft and has worked great on WWII programs like IL2.  However, several times now when running engines on aircraft with engines two and over....the throttle will only advance power to a single engine?  I have calibrated the joystick several times...without any results.  Its hard to control a Lear Jet or 747 with the power full tilt on one side and idle power on the other!  Has anyone else experienced this?
The only way I have been able to correct the problem is ESC from the flight and re-start.  
Any help would be greatly appreciated.....I love FS2004.....fantastic!

Hi jcorbin. Maybe this explains it.

ENGINE COMMANDS
On multiengine aircraft, engine commands affect all engines unless you first select an engine by pressing  E + engine number (1-4). To revert back to controlling all engines,  press E + all engine numbers in quick succession (E, 1, 2, and so on).

Here is another, and I think more efficient way...

Goto Settings/Options
Select the following in order...
   Assignments
   Joystick Axes Tab
   Normal Flight Button (should already be selected)
   Joystick Type (if not already selected to your wingman)

Within the list of selectable features, you'll see the following...

Engine 1 Mixture Axis
Engine 1 Propeller Axis
Engine 1 Throttle Axis
Engine 2 ...
etc

Keep going down the list.

Down at the bottom of the list is a general Throttle Axis selection. This will allow you to control all engines on one throttle.

my wing man (Same as topic posters) throttle only makes the ingame throttle go 3/4 when I push the joystick throttle in all the way.

I assume you've tried re-calibrating... Have you checked your sensitivities?

Hanzaki_Mishima....I have the same problem with the Wingman....throttle will only advance to 3/4 power at times.  Its probibly a re-calibration problem or senstivities problem as Skittles suggests.  You can however overide your Wingman throttle....if necessary by hitting F4 which is the "Full Power Setting" when the key board is used as a flight controler....at least it works for me.

I do that but, it only stays that way a couple of seconds, and then goes back.

The only other thing I can think of is, is it USB and on a hub? Some devices don't work well on hubs.

Other than that, I can't help since I don't have a Wingman. Sorry.

Skittles....I think mine is on a "hub"...meaning a cereal port adapter to a USB port? If so mine has that type of adapter...do you think this could be the problem with my joystick?  It gets very erattic at times and seems to completely go out of control, even though it has just been calibrated!    You may have found all the problems that I have been having.  I think its time to purchase a new joystick....what do you have onn your system and what would you recomend?  Thank you once more for all of your help.  Is there a "Premium" joystick out there?

Skittles, sounds like you have a great set up!  I was looking at the Saitek X45.....going to get one today and give it a try tonight.  Yes, my current joystick (Logtech) came with a special 15pin serial port to USB port adapter, crazy huh?  I purchased the Logtech just before USB port type joysticks were numerous on the market.  At any rate I think its time to up-grade....I will let you know how the X45 works.  The "Hub" explanation was very educational....and now I know what the darn things are thanks to you.  :)  Thank you so much for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

About the X45, I found it just a tad bit tricky to learn how to program the buttons, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be amazed!

Thanks Skittles......remember your talking to a guy who didn't know what a "hub" was or for that matter how to spell serial correctly!  However I will read the instructions front to back and give it the old "college try".

Should be fun...even if it takes a little time away from flying the sim....I guess I can stay away from FS2004 for a little while!
