A380

Postby doucey592 » Mon Jul 05, 2004 4:45 pm

I just downloaded an airbus A380 for fs 2004 and the panel is unusual to say the least, but that's not my concern. What is however is the auto pilot comands, they don't work! can this be fixed simply by changing the panel to that of another four engined aircraft such as the 747 or A340? other than that it's fine, the textures are a little mucked up but not bad. So please let me know cause i want to get an actual flight on it ( i am verry reliant on my auto pilot)

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike, You'll have to be  more specific about which file you are talking about. (If it's from another site I can't help on that file).

You can also get another panel by simply downloading one ... If I remember correctly there are several a380 panels available & the FS2002 ones should also work fine.

... Or alias the default panel such as the 777 or 747 like this:

Open the PANEL.CFG (in the PANEL folder) file with notepad - select all & replace the text with

[fltsim]
alias=B777_300\panel

or

[fltsim]
alias=b747_400\panel

Let us know how you get on & good luck.

If you are having trouble with the autopilot for a panel you need to check out the aircraft cfg file for that plane I suspect you will find that you are either missing or the autopilot section has a mistake in it. Compare the troubled aircraft cfg file with the default B747. You should be able to spot any problems by doing this. I had a plane with the same kind of problem and the problem was the word autopilot in the aircraft cfg file looked like this(AUTOPILOT) I changed it to look like this (autopilot) and the problem vanished.It may not make any sense but it worked. 8)

Wonder if that's Mike Stone's Quanta?

As noted, any panel can be added to any plane.

P.S. Thanks to Mike Stone for all the great planes and stuff he gives us.

The problem is when the altitude hold and speed hold are engaged nothing happens. I will go and check the CFG file to see if there is a problem in the autopilot section. The aircraft i downloaded was from avsim.com and is in the Quantas livery.

I can only find the textures for mike stone's A380 not the plane its self.

as I said - we don't support files from other sites but Mike's A380 is available here ... easily found using the search facility ;)

I think that the A380 you're referring to was by Camil Valiquette for FS2000 originally. It worked fine in 2002, but many of the animations didn't work in 2004 which is why it had to be remodelled. I have the Virgin Atlantic model which is here on SimV in the FS2000 downloads section on page 62. No problems with the autopilot.

Mike Stone's is much more recent - the fuselage is a little different in shape to the one above, but then perhaps the design has changed a little over the last 5 years or so.
