Landing Gear Collapses

Postby airmanc81 » Sun Jun 20, 2004 2:12 pm

The front landing gear on my aircraft collapse when I land.  It doesn't happen all the time, maybe about 50% of the time, but it's frustrating nonetheless.  I know it's not that I'm making hard landings.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

dont slam it down on the runway, let it down easy and it wouldn't break ;)

This was a frequent problem in FS2002 and there is a discussion/tutorial on it in Grumpy's Lair (see Simviation Home Page ).     I think you will find it's not so much a matter of the nose wheel gear collapsing as sinking into the tarmac - a weird effect.    I recently had this happen when test flying a new download, the P38 Lightning, although it hasn't happened since.     Have a look at the tutorial mentioned above although I understand this is a rare event to happen in FS9.

Good luck - unfortunately I am not in a position to offer you a constructive "fix" technically.

I've had this problem before too, but it was when I put on the breaks too hard.  When you set down on the mains first, don't just slam the breaks on, but getnly lower the nose.
The day is always better when you're flying upside down.

I've had this problem quite a few times too using FS2002. Even with the softest of landings, sometimes the wheels just sink into the tarmac. I think it's just a bug and there's not a lot you can do about it...  ::)
