fssound.dll

Postby wrk21837 » Fri Jun 18, 2004 9:47 am

I finaly found the fscfg. file and have put it on the desktop. However, I added the lines [oldmodules]
fssound.dll=1 but I still get the error screen.
The simm B-24 is the cause of this problem.
Any suggestions? >:( >:( >:(

Did you put the fssound.dll file in your modules folder?

If you moved the fs9 cfg fie to your desk top you made a mistake. When you start fs9 it looks for the fs9cfg file in the folder you moved it from if there is not one there it will make another one. And needless to say it will not have the change you made. You can not move the fs9 cfg file out of the folder it was in. However you can copy it to any place you like.

It's obviously no use moving the file from its original location & expecting it to work. You can however create a shortcut to fs9.cfg or any other file/folder & paste it to your desktop. I often do this myself & assume this is what wrk21837 meant.

Hagar Thati is correct you most certainly can. But I am a firm beleiver in the K.I.S.S. method KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID no insult intended. Every one does not have the same knowledge as the other guy. So I did not want to confuse the issue.  8). It does not make any sense to move a file someplace than make a shortcut so the program can find it. Granted you can do it but why make any harder than it allready is.

Thanks to all that replied to problem. However, you are all right. When I moved it the desk top the added info was removed. i have since written the proper info to the cfg file and I no longer get the error message.

Glad you fixed it Otto. Please remember in future that files will not work if you move them from their correct locations.

You're preaching to the converted Gary. KISS is my motto & I was not trying to confuse the issue. As it turns out I obviously got the wrong impression this time.

Creating a desktop shortcut to the FS root folder (& fs9.cfg in the case of FS9) is simple enough & should make all this easier & less confusing, not more difficult.
