ILS

Postby Merv0728 » Tue Jun 15, 2004 2:53 pm

Can someone tell me how the ILS is supposed to work in FS9 ?
I flew into Freidrikschafen with a flight plan. The ATC gave me the message when I was vectored to the airport that there was ILS on runway 6 but although I turned on the visual flight path for 3000 ft nothing appeared & there was no change in the Nav freqs. which I thought might get set like the Com. radios do.

Does anyone know how to find the ILS freqs. for the default airports ? I managed to find the freq. for Freidrikschafen by stepping the Nav freq. up from 108.00., its 111.90.

Thanks

Hello, click on your map veiw click on the airport you want information from and get the ils freq to that runway.put that freq in your nav radio 1or2 switch that radio on put your nav gps switch in nav mode.and your ready to go.you should hear a beep beep beep sound when your radio has picked up the freq.you can get all airport information in map view by clicking on the airport in the map view.

Heres a good site to learn from.

Do not forget to set the course to the runway heading that way your nav will point in the correct direction. I usually set both nav 1 and nav 2 to the ils freq. then set my course or OBS if using the cessna or mooney to the true heading of the runway. EXP runway 7 at KJAX is 110.70 with a heading of 074 set nav 1 to 110.7o then set your course NOT HEADING to 074 this should point the arrow in the propper direction of runway 07 8)

Gary I assume you mean the MAGNETIC heading, and not the TRUE. You'd end up off course if you used the true heading for KJAX

To EA_KATL,
Not on my MAP, it gives VOR,NDB,ATIS & CT.
It shows the ILS feathers but no freq.
Its ok if the plane in use has GPS,the freq. can be got from there but if you haven't got GPS ???

Hello again.not all airports have the ILS runways.if an airport dosent have the ILS system then its a VFR only airport.if a airport has the ILS system then it will show on the map view with a green line leading up to the runway.if a airport has the green line in map view then click on that and it will give you all the information to use the ILS system at that runway.hope this helps.

I've never seen it there, are you sure you don't mean GPS?

No he's correct, you can choose to display the green ILS 'cones' in the map view which I have mapped to my TAB key.
