Cockpit callouts?

Postby Zaphod » Sat May 15, 2004 11:15 am

Hi all.
Is there a simple way to add cockpit callouts, altidude warnings when on final approach etc. to the default jet airliners in 2004? I have a nice 727 in 2002 (can't remember where I down-loaded it, but definately freeware) which has them and I think it's great.

Cheers.
Zaphod.

If you have it in 2002 you can probably just copy the gauge - it's usually an invisible gauge file that does it - and the sound files to 2004.  Open up the panel.cfg file in the 2002 aircraft and look for something like "callout.gau".  Mine uses fpda_boeing_callout.gau and a few sound files starting with fpda*.wav.

Since the gauge is invisible you don't need to know much about panel editing to insert it.  Just copy the line from the 2002 aircraft.

O.K.
I've checked out the panel config file. The only fpda references are to undercarriage sounds. I've also checked the sounds config file which aliases to the b737_400/sound in 2002.
What really puzzles me is, if it's as easy as including another gau file and some sounds, why wasn't it done for all the commercial jets by Microsoft? I'm assuming the original aircraft would have had these systems? ???

Cheers for now.

I don't know why MS didn't include the sounds except that I found them so annoying that I deleted them.  I couldn't find the gauge and sounds on the net so I'll send them to you. It may not be glamorus - you will need to apply the gauge and sounds yourself.

Jim.
Many thanks again. I have recieved the file and I now have a 737 that talks to me in FS9 and 2002!
Haven't had much like with the 747 so far, following exactly the same procedure. Might be something to do with the fact that the sounds are aliased from the 737? Hey ho. I'll keep trying though.
Again, thanks a lot.
All the best.
