Never ceases to amaze me..

This prog does some amazing things.

I've just had two F18 AIs, a Hawkeye AI and a Harrier AI all doing TandGs on a carrier at the same time.

The 3 types of aircraft have different flight characteristics yet by making them fly tighter or looser circuits the prog kept them all going until they landed at their planned times.

I find that pretty incredible and hats off to the guys who programmed it. We give em some brickbats from time to time but they deserve the bouquets when they do do really clever things.

Dumb question, but what program are you talking about? ???

This would be a good place to pose this question - in my now extensive flying around the FS-world, I notice that my approach vectoring is never uniform. It seems like at the larger airports I get vectored in a long holding pattern first, in other airports I go right in. (For example, my home base of Buffalo, I get to go right in)

And go-arounds are even rarer. Is FS2004 calculating the time you're expected in and working you into some sort of order? Because if that's the case, I am quite impressed!

I have to agree the improvement in quality of the AI for FS9 is fantastic. So much more real-world than 2k2 was. I actually enjoy sitting in the pattern watching other planes sometimes.... maybe I need to get a life ;D

I think it is pretty cool how the aircraft will not turn their stobe lights on, until they get cleared for take off.  Just like the big boys do.... ;D

Yup, for once the M$ boys have got it right. I'm really impressed. I think they must have a couple of "real" pilots doing the testing/advising now 8) ;D

Bit of a mis-understanding.  In my company, we dont turn the Strobes on until we roll onto the runway.  Its nothing to do with being cleared for take off.  Most companies follow suit.

Think about it.  If you are on single runway ops, and you line up, with low vis or little light, and need to hold, and the aircraft on approach is getting closer, it will probably not see you without your flashing strobes.

Universally, strobes will be turned on once "entering an active runway".  Then, everyone knows you are on the active, whether you are moving or not :)

Regards.

I alwasy turn my strobe light on before I start the engine, and leave it on until after I shut down.
That way it brings to the attention of anyone nearby that my aircraft is "active", and to keep clear... ;)...!

Cheers all...!

Paul.

P.S.  It is interesting that all the General Aviation pilots at my local airfield follow that routine... ;)...!

Fozzer the only reason they make you turn the strobe on is that its cheaper than having to get "Danger Mad Fozzer On The Loose" painted on the side of any Cessna you jump into ;) ;D
