Scenery, Where to put it?

Postby Da Judge » Wed Apr 21, 2004 7:58 pm

Hi I just got FS 2004 last week and I downloaded some nice planes. But now I want to add some nice scenery, so I downloaded it, but I dont know where to put it and it doesn't have a readme. Oh, and the scenery I downloaded is the Margarita Club virtual airline, Margaritaville (The home base)

Go to the Home Page and look for Grumpy's Tutorial on add-ons.    It should be all you'll need aand is well worth knowing about if you plan on downloading "stuff."

Good luck..

Some scenery doesn't come w/ readmes. When that happens, what I usually do is install to any scenery directory of my choice. Put your .bgl files in the scenery folder of your choice and the textures go in the texture folder within that directory.

Works for me.

You can actually put ur scenery anywhere you like on your
harddrive. I keep mine in the stock AddOn file in fs9.
Make a directory under AddOn scenery and call it MyScenery
or anything you like. Under this make another directory
called Margaretaville or whatever. Under this make two
subdirectories callling one "scenery" and the other
"texture". Dump your "bgl" files into "scenery" and the
rest "texture" files into "texture". Start fs9 and go to
"settings" then to "scenery library'" and follow the
instructions on how to advise the program where your
scenery is located. Active your scenery. Quit the program
and restart. You should find your scenery under addon
scenery when you go to "world" - "go to airport.
Good luck.

gto_driver
When you added the scenery you should see it go on the top of the list. If this did not happen then somethings wrong. I hate to ask but are you sure you have a valid .BGL file in the folder and not a zip file ???

Gto_driver. Which scenery is this & which type? Terrain mesh & updates to existing airports won't usually add new entries to the Airport menu. If it is a new airport & should be listed try the "Search Add-on scenery" option from the "Create a Flight/Selected location" or "World/Go To" menu.

Is there anywhere I can download it? I'll be happy to check it out for you.

In the meantime go to the Scenery Library & make sure you selected the correct folder. This will be the one directly containing the Scenery & Texture subfolders. If it's hidden inside another folder it can't possibly work.

PS. OK I found it. Note what it says on this page. http://www.margaritaair.com/lounge.html
Second file from the top.
AFCAD2 file to add TMAC to your FS9 GO TO menu and GPS map. Parking spaces are also included.

You will need to install the AFCAD file for it to show up on the FS9 menu. Installation instructions should be included. It's usually a case of pasting the BGL file into the FS9 Addon Scenery\Scenery folder. This should be automatically activated next time you run the sim.
