Curtiss "Jenny" nightmare!!!

Has anyone tried flying the Curtiss Jenny in 'real' mode?

Surely, this cannot be the correct .cfg for this plane???? It is virtually uncontrollable, flying with excessive yaw and really being in control of the pilot!! I cannot believe that flight progressed beyond the twenties with planes like this.

that is probably close to how the real thing flies.  alot of the early planes where tail heavy which makes them trickey to control.

i hadn't flown it in a while so i that i would see what it does exactly on full realism and i'bet that is correct.  it does do what a tail heavy aircraft does.  it tends to yaw left and right, very squirrely.  once in flight it really isn't bad at all.  the jenny was built during ww1 for a primary trainer and at that time weight and balance wasn't something they were overly concerned about.

Was this plane invented as some sort of 'right of passage' or a device to conduct a cull on the weak and sickly pilots of the twenties??!!

XP1900 is  basiocally correct.
The jenny`s  ground handeling can be a bit skiddish (as are most taildraggers of this type) but, once in ther air, it almst flies itself. It was after all, a trainer.

If you do find it uncontrollable" it might be due to an ovely sensitive joystick. This is a common problem but ACOF provides an easy solution.

Add the following to FS9cfg under [controls]
stick_sensitivity_mode=0

This will tame even the most sensitive joystick and make all ac fly more realistically, or at least the way the air file intended it to fly.

i was going to add that i know a guy that built a pietenpol.  when he had it complete it was 4inches behind the rear cg limit.  you never intentionly fly with a tail heavy condition.  he knew this and wasn't going to fly just going to some taxi test before he pulled the engine to make a longer engine mount.  well it lifted off the ground about a foot and began to yaw back and forth.  he has since moved the engine out 7 inches to bring the cg within the limits.  

on the ground the jenny acts like any other taildragger with a skid.  because the weight and balance it lifts off the ground it becomes squirrely,  but it really isn't bad at all and is easy to control.
