fs9 weapons

Postby BLITZ60607 » Sun Mar 21, 2004 6:14 pm

ok i know this is not an easy task, because i myself have been trying to work on this and to no prevail yet, but i've been trying to add weapons such as guns and aam's & agm's (air to air missles, air to ground missles) to flight simulator 2004. i've been trying to incorporate combat flight sim files and fs9 files to make this work but never get further than frustration, my question to anyone is, is this even possible, is there a type of program i can create to make this work, i know there are effects that simulate weapons available but they do no damage to scenery or aircraft thus making it pointless and just for show, a squad on fs9 that i am apart of would like to take it to the next level and incorporate bombing missions and dogfights and so on but dont want to be limited to combat flight simulators but would rather do missions on fs9, im sure alot of people out there would like to see something like this, but i am no programmer so im basically learning on the fly here, if anyone has tried to tackle this before let me know maybe we can put our minds together to figure something out.

:) ;) :D

I'm afraid U won't find this program pal...very sorry, as far as I know it's impossible to cause damage to scenery while fying fs2004.
what I've tried is to link the weapons (scenery and textures) that come within cfs2 aircrafts and create a full loaded fs2004 arcraft, even that no gun really works, would be great to see some a/c fully loaded or some tanks ejected when talkin about fighters...no success at all  :( :(

sorry to give U such bad news...

thats the route i've been trying to do, cfs2 and fs9 file swapping, but as you have stated im running into the same problems. im going to keep at it and see if it is even remotley possible until i expend all options or frustration levels  ;)

FS2004 is a civil simulator. If you want a modern combat sim, go get Strike Fighters ;)

.Andrew.

is not the case...hmm, see, in my mind I don't want to destroy sceneries, no no, for that cfsxx is quite good, what I would like to see is the hability to deploy missiles and they go let's say 50 nm and booom! or desappear, what I would like to see is my mustang flying plenty of gas and suddenly I ejected all my tanks and became an acrobat! Do U understand???
It could be so nice to fire the cannons but no destruction at all, just the pleasure to see these features, at least, is my point of view, gotta no intention to destroy nothing =)
Maybe this is the same way BLITZ thinks too

you hit it on the button foo fighter, i think most of us have the combat sims and they are good in there own aspect but the one thing missing in fs9 is that extra thrill of the ability to do actual military drills in aircraft,  most fighters in the real world that are sent up in the air are not unarmed so why have them unarmed in fs9?... in the combat sims, to me at least, they are not as realistic as the flight simulator series and are often under exagerated or sometimes over exagerated.  flight simulator has alot, but is still missing that "something" that could put it over the edge.

MS or somebody needs to come out with a new flight sim that allows you to do anything from combat with working weapons and exploding objects to all levels of civil aviation.  That would be really cool. :D

1000% agreed, most of the modern combat type style flight sims have crappy graphics or are not even worth buying into.

im well aware of the effects but like i stated they are really not that great and they do no actual damage, the effects are not worth it if your trying to do multiplayer squad drills, and they are just that.. "effects".. and nothing more.

yes, I agree that it would be great to have that possibilitie in fs9! I am part of a Virtual Air Force, and when I ask something to get fs9 more like a combat sim, people allways say : "this is a civil simulator, if you want combat get cf2!"
Well, I have cf1, cf2, cf3, lock on, il2, il2 forgotten batles, mig alley, etc!! some are great others, so so, but all of them lack the "real thing aspect"!! they're flight behaveur allways sims a bit wrong when compared to fs9, and as part of a VAir Force, we really enjoy having the whole world designed in fs9, so that we can go anywhere in the world for exercises, or some war!! other combat sims don't have this!
I would gladly pay more money for a flight sim that could have both worlds!!

you couldnt have said it better, yes it is a civil simulator, but there is that "lack" that erks most of us, they need to come out with a addon for this or something cause i belive alot of people agree on this subject that the combat sims dont do it justice.

yup guys that's what is missin' a mix between cfs series and fs series a hibrid where weapons seens to work but the  effectivity of these are false, I mean, U shot, U deploy but nothin is damage or destroyed, just the pleasure to see a F-14 like Dino Cataneo firing all 6 phoenix missiles! or the excelent Spit's firing their cannons I don't think that this would be hard to do, because dp files and weapons sceneries do exist....but as far as I can see, my tech knowledge is'nt enough to to this...  :(

The whole world is on CFS2, despite it's limitations, it can be modded with FS2000 Scenery, Terrain mesh and addon scenery of good quality.

I too, would like to see a Blended Flight Sim, where I could be a Sky Pirate (Crimson Skies), A Defender (virtual air force Combat Sim Style), or a happless victim of terrorism (FS2004 virtual airline). Add to that a stunning ground simulator complete with Elected and self declared dictators, Wanna-be's, Vigilantes, Cults, and an observer mode where you are just a plain citizen watching it all happen on the boob tube, reporters, news crews, medics..............

We could declare wars and get very nasty with each other, (as real as it gets!  ;D), Form alliances and protect our borders.

In fact, it would be great, maybe all the soldiers on the planet could be issued a stonking great killer PC, and we could fight it out from the comfort of an air conditioned lounge instead of the horrors of mud and blood.

But maybe they'd get bored.........
