Don't you just hate it when.....

Postby MattNW » Mon Mar 15, 2004 9:47 pm

Someone keeps asking the same question over and over never seeming to get the message?

I just flew out of Bethel Alaska for Coldfoot. The airport was IFR at the time but this one Piper kept asking over and over for a touch and go. The tower kept informing the guy that the airport was IFR and his request was denied but he persisted. I flew out of range eventually but the Piper must have asked 20 times for landing and got denied 20 times.

Someone should teach these AI to have an alternate destination planned if they are unable to land at their planned destination.  ;D ;D

Watching AI crash is pretty funny...

"Piper N74, did you receive my last transmission?"
*wait*
"Piper N74, IFR flight plan cancelled, radar services terminated - good day"

::) ::) ::) ::)

What about civil-jets that don't seem to be able to climb.

AA Boeing 737, please expedite your climb to flightlevel 210 - over and over again, until you have to switch channels.

I once actually saw a 747 hanging in thin air, without moving an inch.

Yeah the AI does not consider such things as IFR conditions. I think they just do circuits until you go out of range.

Using the magic ctrl+w combination, I sometimes have a look at AI landings and so on. Ive seen AI at high level flying a vertical sine wave, flying with flaps down and flying through eachother!

Ive so far to see an AI crash though. A noticable thing is that sometimes the AI does not fly the correct height and doesnt correct this.

The AA Boeing 737 pilot must fly Pipers in his off hours.  I have heard ATC telling him to expedite his climb every couple of  minutes for a looooooooong time.

Yeah, I love watching the AIs when I'm not doing anything else. I don't think they crash though or at least what I call crashing is what they call landing. I've seen an AI plane smack the runway at what had to be more than 2000 ft/min and taxi merrily on his way to the gates.  ;D

I was given clearance to land in my 747 and started my decent, full flaps and gear down, i hear the ATC cue up another aircraft behind me, i think this is quite good the ACOF can cue aircraft behind me, i then get on a good glide slope and get close to the runway at perfect speed, just as i touch the runway this 777 comes hurtling down in-front of me and crunches into the runway and continues on merrily as i open my mouth and gasp.
