final approach lineup. Is there a way?

Is there anyway in fs9 that you can select which aiport you would like to land at, so that when you start you are on final approach. Is there maybe a utility available to do this.

Just save the flight.

As webb said, just save yourself a flight.   I've never heard of a utility for this, nor is one really needed.

Takeoff and set up an approach to the airport you want and then save the flight.  You can then pull up the saved flight in the my flights folder under 'saved flights' in the sim.  O

Or takeoff and cheat a bit by either slewing or using the map (alt-->World-> map) to manipulate this position.

Once you save the flight, you will be able to keep resetting to that position to try the approach over till you get it right.  Something I'm quite familiar with!

Or you could just start the flight on the active and slew back a bit.  I've been known to use this approach (pardon the pun) to set up screenshots or to just practice landings.

Dont you have to takeoff first?  I always do:  I was under the impression that if you just slew up and back without taking off to gain the proper lift, you would have no airspeed after slewing and just drop to the ground to your multimillion dollar aircraft death!  Am I out of line on this?

Depends how far back and how high you go.  Some aircraft, without mentioning names, have this quirky tendency to go to full throttle upon exiting slew.  Doesn't bother me since I NEVER slew for reasons other than practice and/or screenies.  lol

I think the best way is to start on active then immideatly enter the map,drag your plane back on map with mouse and here,on map you can also set the altitude,speed and heading by entering numbers manualy...IMHO-easiest way

TO in desired a/c.
For jets, offset 10 degrees of radial from desired course at 30 miles .
360 final course inbound on the 180 degree radial.

Found a way to set up approaches in COF.
In Create a Flight, position the aircraft at the desired airfield.
Open the sim to the cockpit.
Select Map.
Drag the aircraft to a position near or as desired to the approach.
Add altitude, airspeed, and heading to map data.  Make it easy or hard as desired.
Ok
Hand fly and trim until acft is under control then P and set A/P, A/T as desired plus other settings.
Aircraft may be unstable initially.  Stick the nose to level on the attitude indicator, hold and trim.  Mid range power.
Save flight.
Distance is a guess. Jets want 20 to 30 miles for setup.
If closer, just do the Map position over again.
