Can't find my default AI file to remove

Postby callump » Wed Nov 26, 2008 4:35 pm

Hi all,

Im trying to remove the default ai in FS9, i know that im supposed to delete/rename a file in the scenery/world/scenery folder called something like Traffic(some numbers).bgl but there isnt one there :-?

If i open up the TTools programme, it allows me to decompile a .bgl file called traffic030528.bgl (which i think is the default traffic one) as well as my other ai files but that file isnt in the folder.

Any ideas guys

traffic030528.bgl is the default ai traffic file. Maybe it got moved?...it will work from any active scenery folder (although I suspect it is there, or wherever your other ai traffic files are located, or TTools wouldn't find it)

Use the explorer search function to search your entire FS9

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

TTools still shows it in the list of AI and it says underneath the route folder for them is the scenery/world/scenery folder and all the other AI show in there

ive carried out a search of the full search of the fs9 folder for the file, nothing found, then i even expanded the search to my full computer, took ages and still nothing, even with hidden files and folders included :-?

am i going crazy  :-?

Got me stumped..

redo your search using place holders, just in case you made an error in entering the full file name

search for traffic*.*

This should find all your traffic files.

Yeah it brought up all my traffic files but still not the one im looking for ::)

since i can decompile and view the flightplans and aircraft files etc. with TTools is there a way i could edit them so that none of the aircraft fly then recompile it?
i tried just emptying the .cfg files but it wouldn't let me compile them empty

TTools cannot read the file unless it's in the  correct location. You can leave this on Default or point it to a User Defined Traffic folder.

Could this have something to do with Vista?

You could also open TTools and select the three decompiled default traffic files then look where the  recompiled file is to be saved as in my pic...should be there.........commoner ;)

I think it could have somethjing to do with vista..

TTools is set to default and is telling me that the file is in the scenery/world/scenery folder ie default
however i cannot find it there, either by looking myself, or using the search functions

its like its invisible, but ive turned windows to show hidden files and folders, and its still not there

as i mentioned before, since TTools is the only programme that seems to know where it is, can i use that, edit the .cfg files that are decompiled and then recompile it so that there are no active flightplans?

Just to mention, i really appreciate all the help, kind of makes me feel bad i have such a difficult problem! ;D

have you decompiled the traffic030528.bgl file?......i.e. in TTools do you see the 3 .txt file set as shown in Commoner's last reply?
