New to adding AI....

Postby Zaphod » Thu Jul 26, 2007 10:25 am

..but not new to FS9 ;D
Hi Guys and Gals.
Can someone please tell me where and when I need to be to allow me to see this AI I have added. The planes appear in my FS9 aircraft menu, but so far I have not seen them in the air or on the ground at the appropriate Airfields.

AC#1,ZH101,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/07:59:32,1/08:56:08,240,F,0015,LFOA,1/11:13:57,1/11:53:19,240,F,0015,LFMI,1/14:06:13,TNG1/15:29:53,210,F,0015,LFBM,1/15:29:53,1/16:44:56,310,F,0015,EGXW,2/05:29:04,2/07:17:21,310,F,0015,LIRE,2/10:44:04,2/12:10:12,310,F,0015,LGSA,2/13:58:29,TNG2/15:24:37,110,F,0015,LGSA,2/15:24:37,2/15:39:23,060,F,0015,LGSA,3/08:56:40,3/12:03:41,370,F,0015,LPMR,3/14:54:44,TNG3/17:44:32,310,F,0015,EGXW,3/17:45:46,3/18:00:32,310,F,0015,EGXW,4/14:29:46,4/18:12:29,350,F,0015,LTCC,5/09:43:57,5/10:49:10,250,F,0015,LTBI,5/13:11:54,5/16:09:05,370,F,0015,EGXW

I notice the flights are "weekly" but on what day? Are the times quoted local times or GMT?

The AI package is; UKMIL AI RAF 8 & 22 SQN Sentry AEW.1 Package

Any help appreciated.

Zaphod.

ps.
There are actually 7 flights included in the package. I have only copied the first. ;)

The days in 'week' flightplans are 0 thru 6..Sunday thru Saturday.... 1/07:59:32 = Monday at 07:59:32
The flight plan originates from (and eventually ends at) the last airport in the line, EGXW. Times are GMT.

The first leg of this flight plan would be: Depart EGXW Monday at 07:59GMT and arrive LFOA Monday at 08:56GMT.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Thanks for the reply Dave..
It seems I have a problem as the Aircraft doesn't appear at the mentioned time.
I know the Aircraft are ok as they are in the aircraft menu, (I've even flown one). I'll check everything else and get back to you.

Cheers.

Thanks Dave.
I added some parking to Waddington using Afcad and sure enough a veritable fleet of AWACS has appeared. The trouble is they don't seem over inclined to do anything. Is this because all of the other airfields will need to be modified to give them somewhere to go?
Did you actually find an Afcad for Waddington or did you do as I have done?
One other strange thing I have noticed. If I change the time using the menu in FS9 an aircraft "appears" between 07.54 and 07.55 but if a wait in real time nothing happens.

Thanks for the help so far.

Dave.
I have moving aircraft!
I followed your instructions and downloaded the files from UK Miliatary AI and installed them. I then went to Waddington at 7:58 on a Monday morning and sure enough I have 4 AWACS on their stands. I then noticed that one of them had no wheel chocks or engine covers. After a minute or two it pushed back and taxied to the runway and departed! Not sure where it went but at least I have movement.

Cheers.

Well...
I thought I had this sorted with Daves help but alas no! I can watch aircraft taxi and takeoff from their respestive bases as per their flight plans, but I can't watch them land! They just suddenly appear on their stands at the correct times. I've even tried arriving 15mins before sheduled touchdown.
Whats even stranger is I managed to follow a flight from one air base to another and it landed and taxied perfectly!

Any ideas?

Thanks

I've tried it at several of the British air bases as these were the Afcads I downloaded. I haven't seen a single landing, but the planes do "appear" suddenly at their hardstands. I thought at first it might have something to do with the parking not being linked to the taxiways as you mentioned earlier, but I assume if that were the case the planes wouldn't be able to taxi to takeoff?

It could be a timing issues in the flight plans. I'll see what I can find.

Might take a while.   :P   :)

Dave, I think you may be right, that it is a timing issue. I just did the flight AC#3, EGVA to EGXW. The AWACS started to taxi on time but didn't reach EGXW untill 8:14 when it should have arrived at 7:55. I was following all the way in a Voight Corsair.
Not quite sure how to resolve this other than re-writing the entire flight plans and I'm not about to do that!

Best

I may take a crack at re-doing the flightplans. I enjoy fixing things that are broke'...   ;)

The aircraft*.txt has the cruise speed way to high. This results in the calculated leg times being to short for the ac, as you witnessed, and therefore not enough time for proper 'turnaround' between legs.

I'll also limit destinations to those that have parking provided in the Afcads or default airports as I haven't found any Afcads for the Lxxx bases.

Look forward to the results. I'm sure I won't be the only one to benefit.

Thanks again.
