Airports strangely empty

Postby Lazerbeak » Fri Dec 08, 2006 12:10 am

I'm still very much a "n00b" to this AI traffic stuff, so bear with me if this is a silly question.

I'm having something of a problem keeping my airports poulated (mainly the Russian ones). I've successfully downloaded and installed several packages, and every now and then I see some of them sitting on the tarmac, but it seems that my airports always look far too deserted, even after loading them up with AI. For example, I recently installed several packages to populate Surgut (UTAir, Kolavia, and Bashkirian, to name a few), and even though these make up a majority of the airlines operating from that airport, they rarely show up. This same thing occurs with other airlines in other airports. The airlines work fine, as I do see them from time to time, but they're just not filling up the airports like they should.

I've tried tweaking the AFCADs and the planes' cfg files, but nothing helps. Is there something else I need to do to make these airlines appear more often, or is this simply how it's supposed to be?

Apologies for my noobish inquiry, but it's really getting frustrating spending hours setting up AI only to find that they've gone AWOL...

Do you have your traffic slider up? Settings-Traffic-Air Traffic Density slider, turn it up to 100%.

Of course, I always keep it set to 100%, which is why it seemed so strange to me.

Sorry, i had to check. I have all the PAI packages installed and i must say the Russian airports are a little sparce. I've seen some threads about this before and some links were posted to some Russian AI sites. Try going back through this forum a few pages and see what you can find.

PS Try messaging Ivan, he'd have some links to Russian AI sites. ;)

A newbee here also, same symptoms but worse. Flight Sim X - eg added the WOAI Qantas Airline Package using the latest installer. Can see the airline in the advanced mode, can see it goes to both these airports but go to Christchurch or Auckland Int airports in New Zealand, no AI airplanes at all !! Traffic Slider all the way up no planes just me ???

Uninstall Qantas Package & hey presto AI airplanes etc back again ????

try different times of day.  for example I often fly out of KPDX, and I usually fly in the mid afternoon, but the airport was unusually empty, I tried adding more AI or getting afcads with more gates but nothing seemed to help, then I set it for dawn and the terminals were packed.  Even more, I stuck around and the planes all started to leave within about fifteen minutes.

When working with (read that: looking for) AI_traffic in either FSX or FS9 the Microsoft SDK Traffic Tool Box is a must-have Both are free.
One can simply open up the ToolBox and immediately see all the listed traffic for a given; simply changing the sim-time again -- all the traffic is listed for a given area. Don't leave home without it.

OK what you need is (apart from TTools):
From Simviation: (http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery89.htm) CIS AFCAD Release 5. Whitout that you wont get anything showing up, as MS has almost no parking space assigned there.
From RATS: All available stuff (way better timetables than the usual avsim.com offerings)

Models:
Dig This thread for the models... An-12, TU-134V3 and Yak-42V3 could be a problem as avsim.ru changed their guest allowances lately. You don't need the Yak-42 and Tu-134 from there, and i can send you the An-12 if you arent able to download it.

Busy airports:
- Whole Moscow civil trio (UUEE, UUDD and UUWW). UUDD is close to getting overloaded
- Khabarovsk (just Dalavia traffic)
- Novosibirsk (Sibir and some regional traffic)
- Sochi (Charters!... Il-86s and Tu-154Bs)
- Antalya (thats where most of the Il-86s go to)

Surgut is mainly Utair... and that package is still in development (even the latest one i have does give 4 An-24s at best there)
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur
